it's an Avro Shackleton, also nicknamed "Perpetual Motion" or just "The Shack".Derived from the Lancaster, but it had Rolls-Royce Griffons driving contra-rotating props. They make a characteristic 'growl'.
Some may have Stockholm Syndrome.

I find it ironic that 1940s technology was replaced in the 1980s with technology from the 1950s. The Nimrod was derived from the De Havilland Comet.
