Nuking Gaza a possibility – Israeli minister

Amichai Eliyahu’s remarks have sparked widespread condemnation in Israel and Palestine alike

Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu has suggested that his country could launch a nuclear strike on Gaza. The controversial remarks caused outrage across the Israeli government, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspending Eliyahu indefinitely.

In a Sunday interview with Radio Kol Berama, when asked if Israel could drop an atomic bomb on the Palestinian enclave, the minister, who is a member of the far-right Otzma Yehudit party, replied that “this is one of the possibilities.”

Eliyahu also spoke out against helping inhabitants of the enclave, which has been under Israeli siege for several weeks now, arguing that “we wouldn’t hand the Nazis humanitarian aid,” and that “there is no such thing as uninvolved civilians in Gaza.”

Shortly after the controversial remarks, Netanyahu announced that the minister had been suspended from all government meetings. Writing on X (formerly Twitter), his office quoted him as saying that “Eliyahu’s statements are not based in reality,” adding that Israel is “operating in accordance with the highest standards of international law to avoid harming innocents.”

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant condemned what he called Eliyahu’s “baseless and irresponsible words,” adding in a post on X that “it’s good that these are not the people in charge of Israel’s security.”

Those remarks were echoed by opposition leader Yair Lapid, who called Eliyahu an “extremist” and pointed out that his statement “caused harm to the families of the hostages, Israeli society, and our international standing,” urging Netanyahu to fire the minister.

The minister’s remarks also did not go unnoticed by Hamas, which launched a surprise attack on Israel last month. It stated that the comments are an “expression of the occupiers’ Nazism and [their] genocide practices,” which came after Israel’s “military failure in the face of the [Palestinian] resistance”.

Meanwhile, Eliyahu attempted to control the damage, insisting that “it’s clear to anyone with a brain that the remark about the atom was metaphorical.” He maintained, however, that Israel “must display a forceful and disproportional response to terror,” adding that this approach will show “the Nazis and their supporters that terrorism isn’t worthwhile.”

Israel has never publicly confirmed or denied having nuclear weapons. However, it is widely believed to have possessed such arms since the late 1960s. According to a Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) estimate, the nation has a total of 90 warheads.

Blinken Tells Abbas He Asked Israel To Use 'Smaller Bombs' On Gaza

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is on another multi-day tour of the Middle East, where this time Arab leaders have finally acquiesced to meet with him as the Gaza crisis continues, at a moment the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say that Gaza City is surrounded.

On Sunday Blinken visited Ramallah, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, to meet with President Mahmoud Abbas of the internationally backed Palestinian Authority (PA). Blinken reportedly told Abbas that the US is pressing Israel to "minimize civilian harm". He had some interesting ideas on how to do that.

Blinken had previously again met with Netanyahu Friday where according to fresh reports he pressed the Israeli prime minister to use "smaller bombs".

"U.S. officials told the Israelis that they could reduce civilian casualties if they improved how they targeted Hamas leaders, gathered more intelligence on Hamas command and control networks before launching strikes, used smaller bombs to collapse the tunnel network and employed their ground forces to separate civilian population centers from where the militants are concentrated," The New York Times reported.

Blinken of course stressed Israel's "right to defend itself" but still pressed for a humanitarian "pause". In Ramallah, he vowed to Abbas that the US will step up humanitarian aid efforts to the besieged Gaza Strip.

According to the latest grim figures, some 1.5 million Gazans have now been internally displaced:

The UN agency OCHA has said that of them, 710,275 are sheltering in 149 UNRWA facilities, 122,000 people are in hospitals, churches, and public buildings, 109,755 people are in 89 non-UNRWA schools, and the remainder are residing with host families.

The World's Largest Biometric Digital ID System, India's Aadhaar, Just Suffered Its Biggest Ever Data Breach

In one fell swoop, roughly 10% of the global population appears to have had some of their most valuable personal identifiable information (PII) compromised. Yet Aadhaar continues to receive plaudits from Silicon Valley.

An anonymous hacker claims to have breached the digital ID numbers, as well as other sensitive personal data, of around 815 million Indian citizens. To put that number in perspective, it is more than 60% of the 1.3 billion Indian people enrolled in the government’s Aadhaar biometric digital identity program, and roughly 10% of the entire global population. Thanks to the breach — the largest single one in the country’s history, according to the Hindustan Times — the personal data of hundreds of millions of Indians are now up for grabs on the dark web, for as little as $80,000.

To register for an Aadhaar card, Indian residents have to provide basic demographic information, including name, date of birth, age, address and gender, as well as biometric information, including ten fingerprints, two eyeball scans and a facial photograph. Much of that data has apparently been compromised.

Media reports suggest that the source of the leak was the Covid-19 test data of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which is linked to each individual’s Aadhaar number. The alarm was first raised by Resecurity, a Los Angeles-based cyber security company, which on Oct 15 included the following in a blogpost on its corporate website:

On October 9th, a threat actor going by the alias ‘pwn0001’ posted a thread on Breach Forums brokering access to 815 million “Indian Citizen Aadhaar & Passport” records. To put this victim group in perspective, India’s entire population is just over 1.486 billion people.

HUNTER investigators established contact with the threat actor and learned they were willing to sell the entire Aadhaar and Indian passport dataset for $80,000.

The data set offered by pwn0001 contains multiple fields related to the PII of Indian citizens, including but not limited to:

– name

– father’s Name

– phone Number

– other Number

– passport Number

– aadhar Number

– age

– gender

– address

– district

– pincode

– state…

One of the leaked samples contains 100,000 records of personal identifiable information (PII) related to Indian residents. In this sample leak, HUNTER analysts identified valid Aadhaar Card IDs, which were corroborated via a government portal that provides a “Verify Aadhaar” feature. This feature allows people to validate the authenticity of Aadhaar credentials,” Resecurity said…

Resecurity acquired… 400,000 records and contacted multiple victims to validate the information, as well as used the “Verify Aadhaar” feature available via official government WEB-resource in India.

The contacted victims from the acquired data set confirmed the validity of their data, and stated they have never been notified about [the breach] before.

‘Three Mossad agents’ arrested by Iran – media

They reportedly intended to launch kamikaze drones from the Afghan border towards targets in the country

Three suspected agents of Israel’s Mossad spy service have been arrested on the Iranian-Afghan border for allegedly attempting to carry out drone attacks, Iran’s IRNA state news agency reported on Sunday.

According to the outlet, three Iranian nationals identified as “Mossad agents” were captured in the mountainous areas between the two countries as a result of a joint operation by the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and the Taliban’s intelligence service.

The detainees were reportedly planning to launch suicide drones from the Afghan border against targets in eastern Iran. They are expected to be transferred to Iran for interrogation. No further details have been provided.

This comes a week after Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said Israel had “crossed the red lines,” referring to the situation in Gaza, where the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are “expanding ground operations” after days of relentless air and rocket attacks on civilian targets, including hospitals and refugee camps.

The Gaza conflict escalated on October 7 when the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel, killing more than 1,400 people and taking more than 200 hostages, according to West Jerusalem officials. In response, the IDF launched airstrikes on the densely populated Palestinian enclave.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll since the beginning of the violent escalation is 9,488, including 3,900 children and 2,509 women. More than 24,000 people have been injured.

Mass protests calling for a ceasefire in Gaza have taken place in cities around the world. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that “calls for a ceasefire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas,” and that “will not happen.” A few weeks ago, he declared that “Hamas is part of the evil axis of Iran, Hezbollah [Lebanese militant group] and their followers.”

Israeli warplanes struck the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza early Sunday, killing at least 33 people, according to health officials.

Ashraf al-Qidra, a spokesman for the Health Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza, said at least 42 people were wounded in the strike. He said first responders, aided by residents, were searching the rubble for dead or possible survivors.

The camp is located in the evacuation zone where Israel’s military had urged Palestinian civilians in Gaza to seek refuge as it focused its military offensive in the northern areas.

Zelensky invites Trump to Ukraine and says he needs US support for one more year

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky extended an invitation to Donald Trump to come visit, while stressing his war-torn nation needs at least one more year of heavy US support.

Trump has long crowed that he could end the war in 24 hours if he becomes president, but Zelensky gently suggested he would disabuse the former president of that notion.

“I invite President Trump if he can come here. I will need 24 minutes…to explain [to] President Trump that he can’t manage this war, that he can’t bring peace because of Putin,” Zelensky told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

“If he’s not ready to give our territory for this terrible man,” Zelensky went on, “if you’re not ready to give our independence…he’s very welcome.”

Zelensky noted that he hasn’t had any contact with Trump since the latter departed the White House and conceded he doesn’t know if the former president would have Ukraine’s back.

He also thanked President Biden, who visited the war-torn nation back in February to mark the one-year anniversary of the conflict.

Migrants Leave ID, U.N.-Provided Maps at Mexican Border Crossing into Texas

The last actions by thousands of migrants crossing into Texas from Mexico are evidenced by discarded identity documents and detailed maps to the United States. The maps are provided to the migrants by several international organizations, including the United Nations, Doctors Without Borders, and the International Red Cross.

Breitbart Texas traveled into Mexico to explore the busiest migrant crossing points along the Rio Grande across from Eagle Pass, Texas, on Friday, noting the vast amount of refuse and documents left behind.

At one landing in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, numerous CBP One Applications were torn and left behind by the migrants who grew tired of waiting in Mexico for an available appointment to be admitted through the nearby Eagle Pass Port of Entry. Rather than wait in Mexico in hopes of being selected for one of 1,400 daily appointments nationwide, the migrants chose to leave the documents behind and ford the Rio Grande.

The migrants are also leaving behind detailed maps provided by several international and Mexican humanitarian organizations that detail specific travel routes to the U.S. Mexico Border from as far away as Panama. One flyer provided to the migrants from “Amigos del Tren”, or “Friends of the Train” in English, provides the location of freight train routes through Mexico covered by Ferromex, the major freight train company in Mexico.

In addition to travel routes, the maps and flyers from Doctors Without Borders, the United Nations, and the International Red Cross also provide addresses and phone numbers for migrant shelters across Mexico and Central America. The flyers offer tips to stay safe and warn of hazards along the migration routes to the U.S./Mexico border.

The flow of migrants into Piedras Negras varies daily as large groups of migrants are removed from freight trains by authorities in Mexico to slow their progress through the country. A source in Mexico says operations underway by Mexican authorities in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, have led to fewer crossings in recent days. The operations only serve to slow progress down until the migrants move to other areas to reboard the trains.
