At least six dead in Ukrainian missile strike on Donetsk

The city has been hit three times using US-made HIMARS systems, according to local authorities

At least six people were killed and a further 11 injured in Donetsk on Tuesday, when the Russian city was repeatedly subjected to missile attacks by Ukrainian forces.

Civilian infrastructurewas damaged in several places in the city during the attacks, which came in three waves, Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) leader Denis Pushilin said. The local labor and social security department suffered a direct hit, he added.

Apart from that,multiple multistory residential buildings, as well as a medical facility sustained damage during the strikes. According to a preliminary evaluation, the Ukrainian forces used US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher systems to bombard the city.

TheUkrainian forces appeared to be using their “favorite” double-tap tacticsduring the attack, launching a strike,waiting for first responders, and then striking again at the same place, RT correspondent Roman Kosarev reported from the scene. The reporter’s crew witnessed a police officer who was injured in such fashion. Luckily, an ambulance happened to be nearby and the officer was promptly rushed to a hospital, Kosarev said.

Europe ‘powerless against Kremlin propaganda’ – media

EU-wide bans on RT and Sputnik have done little to stop the spread of pro-Russian narratives, Luxembourg’s Tageblatt has claimed

Despite the EU’s best efforts to sanction and ban Russian news outlets, Europeans can still read RT and Sputnik, and “pro-Russian conspiracy narratives” are becoming more popular, the editor-in-chief of Luxembourg's Tageblatt complained in a recent op-ed.

Less than a week after Russian troops entered Ukraine last year, the European Commission announced sanctions on RT and Sputnik, suspending their TV broadcasting licenses and blocking both websites for readers across the EU.

Just as 11 rounds of sanctions failed to crater the Russian economy, thecrackdown on RT and Sputnik “promised a lot and delivered little,” Tageblatt editor-in-chief Tobias Senzig wrote in an editorial on Monday.

“With just a few tricks – a simple change in the network settings of your computer is enough – you can easily access the RT and Sputnik websites,”he griped, referring to the fact that RT remains accessible to readers using a VPN, the Tor browser, or the Psiphon censorship-bypass tool.

Although Senzig argued that free access to information is one of the “grassroots democratic principles that the internet rightly upholds,” he called the EU’s sanctions “long overdue.” RT and Sputnik are not “public broadcasters,” he claimed, but “pure offshoots of the Kremlin's propaganda department.”

“Not only are they trying to represent the ‘Moscow view’ to the rest of the world, but they are also aggressively interfering in intra-European affairs,” he elaborated.“Our democracies are portrayed as broken and dysfunctional, and Moscow's antagonists are constantly being attacked: Social Democrats, Greens, ‘do-gooders’, Brussels, Ukraine.”

Moscow argues that the Western media outlets are working in lockstep with Western governments against Russia. These outlets “receive instructions and manuals from their special services, they get leaks of information – which are mostly, very often, specially and professionally prepared falsehoods – and do this round the clock,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in August. Russia has set out to compete with them “very gingerly, but quite successfully,” he added.

RT is “laughing up its sleeve,” Senzig declared, noting that according to a study published by German think tank Cemas last November, “approval ratings for pro-Russian conspiracy narratives surrounding the Ukraine war have increased ‘significantly’ among the overall German population since April 2022."

“In other words,” he explained, “more people in Germany believed Putin's lies after the attack than before the war.”

Senzig is not the first pundit or official to decry the apparent power of RT. The commander of United States Southern Command Gen. Laura Richardson, complained last month that the US is losing the “conflict in the information domain” to RT, Sputnik, and TeleSUR in Latin America.

Zelensky scraps Israel trip – media

The Ukrainian leader reportedly changed his mind at the last minute…KEK!

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was supposed to land in Tel Aviv on Tuesday but changed his mind due to a media leak over the weekend, the Times of Israel has reported.

The outlet cited Israeli diplomatic sources as saying the visit is still expected, but “there is no date at this stage.”

Israel’s Channel 12 got wind of Zelensky’s plans and broke the news of the upcoming visit on Friday, noting that the plans were already at an “advanced stage” and the trip could come within days.

An unnamed Ukrainian diplomat told the Times of Israel on Sunday that Zelensky was “very disappointed” about the leaks, and had wanted the trip to only become public once he set foot on Israeli soil.

If Zelensky comes, “he will be welcomed with open arms,” an Israeli official said on Sunday.

The Ukrainian leader has struggled to keep the interest of the West since October 7, when a Hamas incursion from Gaza triggered a full-scale war between Israel and the Palestinians. Visiting the NATO headquarters shortly thereafter,Zelensky told reporters there would be consequences “if international attention shifts away from Ukraine.”

His proposal for a “solidarity visit” to Israel – leaked to the media – was rebuffed in mid-October by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who reportedly told Zelensky the time was “not right.”

West Jerusalem seems to have had a change of heart since, however. According to Channel 12, Zelensky’s trip was supposed to show “a united front of Israel, Ukraine, Europe, and the US against the Russia-Iran axis” and culminate in a photo op with Netanyahu and Israeli President Isaac Herzog, to “send a message of the enlightened world under attack, standing against the less-enlightened world, attacking.”

Israel has faced rising criticism in the West over its heavy-handed tactics against Gaza, from a total blockade of the Palestinian enclave to air and artillery strikes, apparently without regard for civilian casualties.

Ukraine can’t solely depend on US (Big Fat Baby Man Goes Back to Insulting)– FM

Kiev is looking to the EU for support in its conflict with Russia, Dmitry Kuleba has said

The Ukrainian government is hoping to set up partnerships with EU countries so it can continue fighting,regardless of the outcome of the 2024 US elections, the country's Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on Monday.

Support for Kiev is dwindling after Republicans took control of the US House of Representatives and there are fears that providing weapons and aid to Israel will take precedence over Ukraine, amid the war in Gaza.

“As for what might happen in 2024, we’ll have to wait and see. But we are preparing because we cannot afford to depend only on American support,” Kuleba told the German outlet Die Welt.

“Thanks to our friends in Europe and other countries, I think we are not afraid of a doomsday scenario.”

Kuleba noted that his proposals for the joint production of weapons and ammunition were “received positively by the foreign ministers” at a recent EU enlargement conference in Berlin.

“That is whywe are now investing huge amounts of money in our own productionof all types of weapons, increasing production volumes and militarizing our economy,” he said.(so the money the US is sending is being used to build industry and not fighting the war? Good to know Fat Baby Boy!)

“If the West cannot win this war, then what war can it win?” Kuleba wondered.

TheUS has supplied the lion’s share of both military and financial aid to Kievover the past two years. The Pentagon has estimated the value of just the equipment and ammunition sent to Ukraine at over $44 billion since the conflict with Russia escalated in February 2022.

In last month’s request to Congress for emergency funding for Ukraine, the White House revealed that Kiev was receiving $1.1 billion per month in cash infusions, which the new $61 billion proposal would slash to $825 million, with the expectation that the EU and Japan will pick up the difference.

Much of US attention over the past month has been focused on Israel, however.Zelensky has lamentedthe fact that Ukraine has faded from American headlines, and has attempted to regain attention in a variety of ways, most recently by inviting former president Donald Trump to Kiev. Trump declined.

A Time magazine story last week painted Zelensky as “delusional” – in the words of his aides – and the war itself as a lost cause, with everyone around him “stealing like there’s no tomorrow.” Kuleba has denounced these quotes as false and insisted that Ukraine was successfully fighting against corruption.
