are the Amish a religion or a tribe?
asking as the local Amish that I know all seem to be "escapees" of sorts. Very nice, gentle people but they are buyin ALOT of land around here and when they "rent" a small piece of land from close neighbors who are not Amish so they can set up telephone lines…but it has to be kept secret form other Amish folk you will rat them out
