A little IRL story.

Spouse anon and I have been talking and trying to come to a decision on getting a gun for home defense. Foolishly, we kept putting off the decision to get one.

Meanwhile, a local gun shop and indoor range was having a food drive to benefit our veterans. She took some stuff to them and her name was entered into a drawing. She won the top prize - a Glock 48 9mm! ($500 retail). The decision was made for us. I'm now another first-time US gun owner. Sweet!

I considered that but I'm an old fart. A 12 gauge recoil would probably kick my ass more than a home intruder would.

For now, I'll stick with the 9mm, 135 gr. hollow points and soon, a laser sight. And, I need lots more range time before I go with a CCP.

Yes. If I go the shotgun route, a 410 would be a

serious consideration. I shot my dad's single shot 410 when I was a kid (I was a skinny lightweight kid). I could easily handle the recoil from the 410 even back then. I shot his 12 gauge and .308 and damn near cried. They both hurt like a bitch.

I live in a very small home. For now, the 9mm will do.
