Sorry US Military but stuff like this irks me to no end. This should happen a lot less frequent and should be most likely highly recoverable. Part of the problem is not having fail safe and fault tolerant redundant capabilities for instant retrievals. Every transponder on equipment and personnel should have a "last known state" that automatically captures geo-location and other pertinent metrics and data that can use basic algorithms to query scalar and group data with ai polling. Secondary response teams should automatically have a network type of ownership for team members in the general vicinity. My condolences.
