The word knowledge is also 'opinion'. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil was the tree of the opinion of good and evil.
God told Adam not to eat (a metaphor for learn) from it because his opinion did not matter. God defined it.
"The man has become as one of us knowing good and evil"
It is a different 'know' here. This is also 'declaring'.
The man has become believing himself to declare good and evil.
Man makes himself to be a god by declaring good and evil for himself. He reaps what he sows; causing pain suffering and death. God allows it because it reminds man that he is not a god. Gods don't suffer.
The mis-translations are from two sources. Use of Hebrew created with nikkud in 600 AD, and intentional twisting by the Jews who translated the Septuagint. Perverting the blessing of God, whee they were supposed to be a blessing. They seeded bad info into scriptures to keep the Gentiles away from God.
