The Journey Home
I see our journey home as if we are at the bottom of a deep chasm, and together we are climbing all the way up to a high mountain kingdom where the air is fresh and the water is crystal clear and sweet music is carried on the breeze.
From here, it can feel like a long road up, a daunting journey too difficult to undertake. From inside the cave, from down in the darkness, it can feel hopeless to get to a better situation.
It's a long hike, that is true, and there are some steep climbs along the way.
But here's the trick to it: it's a long journey, and we make our own fun along the way. We catch the rhythm of the travel. We scale our way up a steep cliff, then we make camp on a sunny plateau and we CELEBRATE!
We take our time at each plateau: we feast and dance and sing. We rest and rejuvenate. We revel in the sunshine and appreciate all that we have - all that we have gained through our effort. We take stock and learn from our adventures. We get wiser, we get stronger, we get freer and we get better at enjoying life in the moment.
That's what makes the journey worth taking. We make excellent rest stops along the way, so it's not all hard work and heavy lifting. Then, when we're rested and refreshed, we have the energy and motivation to push forward to greater heights, because we know the reawrds will be greater yet.
Even though the journey is long and the way can be daunting, there is always plenty to look forward to at every stage.
Step by step. Plateau by plateau. Phase by phase. The game gets better and we get better at the game.
Onward & upward.
We take this journey together.
