I feel you anon. Have you considered that there are other ways to derive value other than what things cost?
I have had the same thoughts but I actually enjoy watching football. The main reason I enjoy it is the social fabric and ease of communication it provides with family and friends. I stay in touch with other people that I enjoy a connection with for no other reason than football.
There is good and evil to everything. You can choose the good in football and it's okay to do so.
