Bizarre moment naked woman on magic mushrooms wraps her leg around a passenger and slaps a cop in wild rampage at Chilean airport

UPDATED: 15:47 EST, 21 November 2023

This is the bizarre moment a naked woman who was allegedly on psychedelic drugs and drunk attacked passengers and police officers, who arrested her at an airport in Chile.

The woman, who is in her 20s, attended a party in Santiago last Thursday and took magic mushrooms and consumed liquor, Chilean news outlet ADN reported.

At one point during the evening she made her way to Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, where she flew into a rampage.

Dramatic footage showed the woman chatting with a male passenger who was pushing his luggage on a cart.

She appeared to be pleading with him and hugging him. She then knelt and got back on her feet before she wrapped her legs around him and tried to kiss him.

The man then shoved her and she responded by grabbing a bottle from the cart and throwing it to the ground. The passenger eventually walked away.

Additional recording showed the woman running towards passengers in another area of the terminal. She could be heard shouting, ‘I hate you,’ and trying to hit a couple, who narrowly avoided her.

She then paced around and began to shout and then walked inside a parking lot, where she grabbed a woman by the hair and slammed her to the ground.

The assault victim was helped off the ground and escorted while the naked woman remained lying on the ground.

In a third video, two cops attempted to lead her away, but she prevented them from doing so by slapping one of the officers in the face.

She then lunged at a second cop before the agent she had assaulted stepped in and helped his partner subdue her.

The chaotic incident comes on the heels of an Alaska Airlines pilot who was on magic mushrooms when he allegedly tried to shut down the aircraft's engine mid-flight.

Joseph Emerson, 44, was off-duty and sitting in the jump seat in the cockpit of a flight operated by Horizon Air from Everett, Washington, to San Francisco on October 23 when he attempted to cut off the engines' fuel supply.

The Alaska Airlines 2059 crew was able to secure "the aircraft without incident," Alaska Airlines said.

In late September, a naked British woman approached two police officers at Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport in late September. She spoke with the agents briefly and took off running.

The cops were able to track down the woman in the terminal and was treated on the scene by paramedics and admitted to a local medical facility, where she underwent a psychiatric evaluation.

Alaska's Hill delegation introduces measure to open Arctic to drilling, reinstate canceled leases

Updated: November 21, 2023 2:04pm

The Alaska congressional delegation is pushing back against the Biden administration’s decision to ban oil and gas development on the state’s North Slope.

GOP Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan have introduced legislation that would reverse the drilling ban on 13 million acres of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska.

“Alaska has a right to produce our own energy for the sake of quality economic opportunities and good-paying jobs, and for the energy security of the entire nation,” Sullivan said.

In addition, GOP Rep. Mary Peltola, Alaska's lone House member, has sponsored a companion bill in the lower chamber with Minnesota Republican Rep. Peter Stauber.

On Jan. 6, 2021, the Trump administration issued oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The Biden administration's Interior Department six months later suspended the leases.

In September, the department officially canceled the remaining leases and proposed tighter restrictions on drilling in the National Petroleum Reserve.

Alaska’s Right to Produce Act of 2023 would reinstate the leases awarded under former President Donald Trump and reverse the proposed ban.

GM’s Cruise CEO resigns amid concerns over driverless car safety

Mon 20 Nov 2023 04.04 EST

The founder of General Motors-owned Cruise has stepped down less than a month after the driverless car company paused operations after an accident and the loss of permission to operate in California.

Kyle Vogt did not give a reason for his departure from the company that he started in 2013 before it was bought by the US automotive manufacturer General Motors in 2016.

San Francisco-based Cruise is seen as one of the most advanced autonomous driving companies in the world, and it had started charging passengers for journeys in some US cities. However, it paused all of its driverless cars on 26 October after California regulators revoked its licence to transport passengers without a driver after an accident on 2 October.

The company recalled nearly 1,000 vehicles to update their software after the incident.

Mary Barra, the General Motors chief executive, promoted Mo Elshenawy, who is executive vice-president of engineering at Cruise, to chief technology officer, after Vogt’s resignation, according to an internal email reported by TechCrunch.

In the email, Barra reportedly thanked Vogt for his “tremendous vision, passion and dedication over the past decade” and said the Cruise board “understands and respects his decision to resign as CEO”. The email also emphasised the importance of “public trust”. She wrote: “As we work to rebuild that trust, safety, transparency and accountability will be our north stars.”

Vogt, 38, is a serial entrepreneur who previously founded the video streaming service Twitch, which Amazon bought for nearly $1bn, and Socialcam, a video app. Vogt’s Twitch co-founder, Emmett Shear, was appointed as interim boss of artificial intelligence startup OpenAI after the dramatic ousting of its boss, Sam Altman.

Vogt said he would “spend time with my family and explore some new ideas”, in a series of post on X, formerly Twitter. He said: “The last 10 years have been amazing, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped Cruise along the way. The startup I launched in my garage has given over 250,000 driverless rides across several cities, with each ride inspiring people with a small taste of the future.

“Cruise is still just getting started, and I believe it has a great future ahead. The folks at Cruise are brilliant, driven and resilient. They’re executing on a solid, multi-year roadmap and an exciting product vision. I’m thrilled to see what Cruise has in store next!”

He added: “The status quo on our roads sucks, but together we’ve proven there is something far better around the corner.”

The accident on 2 October proved that driverless technology still has some way to go before it is rolled out more widely. Another car knocked a pedestrian into the path of a Cruise car, which initially stopped before driving another 6 metres (20ft), dragging the pedestrian along and seriously injuring her.

The accident, and the consequent licence revocation, was a significant setback for Cruise and for the autonomous driving industry. Companies are racing to develop software capable of driving cars in busy cities while also convincing regulators and the public that it can be safer than human drivers.
