All clear given at Cannon Air Force Base after active shooter threat

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico — Cannon Air Force Base gave the all clear around 9:45 p.m. MT, five hours after an active shooter threat.

Around 4:50 p.m., base security received reports of an individual hearing gunfire.

Security Forces immediately went into "active shooter protocol." The base was put on lockdown and everyone was ordered to shelter in place,.

Personnel received a text message that read, "There is an active shooter on Cannon AFB. Last known location was bldg#1408/HOSPITAL. All non-response personnel should seek shelter immediately until further notice."
