FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 22, 2023) – Gov. Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency following a multiple-car train derailment that occurred in Rockcastle County this afternoon.
The Rockcastle County judge/executive has declared a state of emergency for the county and the Governor’s executive order allows the state to activate resources, including Kentucky Emergency Management and the Kentucky National Guard, as needed to help protect Kentucky families and communities. Response efforts for the incident are ongoing, and local officials are encouraging those in the town of Livingston to evacuate.
“By issuing a state of emergency, we are ensuring that every state resource is available to help keep our families safe,” Gov. Beshear said. “Please stay clear of this area as state, local and CSX officials respond.”
The state’s Emergency Operations Center has also been activated to Level 4. The state’s Energy and Environment Cabinet Emergency Response Team is also on scene.
The Governor has also activated the state’s price gouging laws to protect families from grossly overpriced goods and services. With the state of emergency in place, consumers in the commonwealth can report price gouging to the Office of the Attorney General. Under state law, price gougers can be held accountable.
The Disaster Distress Helpline is a 24/7, year-round, confidential crisis counseling and emotional support resource for survivors, responders and anyone in the United States struggling with distress or other mental health concerns related to any natural or human-caused disaster.

WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Capitol Police promoted two women to inspector positions, giving the department six female inspectors, the most the department has ever had. Inspector is similar to the position of major in other police departments.
The promotions were among 23 promotions that Acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yoganada Pittman announced Monday. They come almost three months after the police department was unable to prevent supporters of former President Donald Trump from storming the Capitol.
"The USCP supports the development and retention of a diverse workforce," Pittman said. "It is critical that the leadership of the Department leverages its collective knowledge and talents to focus on the needs and expectations of its diverse workplace. It is truly an honor to promote these new leaders."

I took down the tweet in which I noted that there were unconfirmed reports about a passport being found at the scene of the incident at the Canadian border, even though I had added an update stating that this info had proven to be unsubstantiated.
I took it down because it is contradicted by other reports and because of lies that are circulating, claiming that I originated the claim in the tweet; I did not, and had noted and linked the source in the tweet and the Jihad Watch post. At Jihad Watch we are scrupulous about accuracy, far more so, in fact, than are those who are charging us with lying and fabricating a report that we did not present as established or certain, and that we did not originate.
