U.S. destroyer shoots down drones fired from Yemen: CENTCOM
The Hudner's encounter with their drones follows a similar episode in October during which the USS Carney, intercepted missiles fired by the group.
A U.S. Navy destroyer shot down multiple drones fired from areas of Yemen controlled by an Iran-backed militant rebel group.
"On the morning (Yemen time) of November 23, the USS Thomas Hudner (DDG 116) shot down multiple one-way attack drones launched from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen," United States Central Command announced. "The drones were shot down while the U.S. warship was on patrol in the Red Sea. The ship and crew sustained no damage or injury."
The Iran-backed Houthis currently control large portions of the Yemeni West, including coastal territory near the entrance to the Red Sea. President Joe Biden 2021 delisted the group as a terrorist organization.
