November 25, 1120: The White Ship tragedy occurred, as the ship capsized near the Normandy coast. The 300 passengers included many English nobles and heir to the throne William Adelin. Only one survived. The disaster led to a succession crisis in England, as King Henry I's son was lost, eventually resulting in a civil war known as The Anarchy.
