So many versions of Linux. Want to try it but seems intimidating and not sure where to start. Read a bit about it, still pondering. Got any suggestions as to what version would be good for a beginner?

Way back in the 90's, and very little here and there when I have to look up a function. Used to know programming in Basic. Never had a need for it though.
