Anon, perhaps they were getting at the idea that if trucks stopped rolling "tomorrow" that they would be able to last a significant amount of time without resupply.

 

Without tractor trailers very little moves unless you're directly on a rail line or adjacent to a major shipping port.

there's a good reason the founding fathers seriously considered making land ownership a pre-requisite for voting.

 

It's logical. If you're renting, you really don't have skin in the game. The community is only as deep as the roots it establishes.
