Planefag Report, 2 July 2018

The Signs of Habbenings Edition

First, the US Air Force. Lots of Duke flights about today, but one in particular caught my eye. Duke46 headed from Stuttgart right up the UK to around Lossiemouth, Scotland. Why, you might ask?

Well, us planefags know that 2-RBTS has a particular fetish for Kirkwall on Shetland and Lossiemouth is just a stone's throw away. There was also a 2 hour gap between 'landing at Lossiemouth' and 'Returning from Lossiemouth', plenty of time to hope over to Kirkwall. Duke46 returned to Wiesbaden where other Duke flights were converging.

Part 5

2-NYAW disappared so I couldn't track it, 2-Clev headed home from Ireland, 2-AUER played nice over Poland and 2-BASG is heading back to the UK from Jeddah. Sucking up to the Arabs?

Roger, it's about picking out the unusual from the general background of NATO exercises (and believe me, we've had a LOT of practice lately).

Most Duke and Magma flights operate out of Stuttgart (Ramstein) and we don't normally see three coming in like a cab rank, as we did today. They also went to Wiesbaden, which is primarily a US Army air base these days.

Since the US Marines are leading this via Mattis, then I see this as possible briefings going on a high levels, other ranks would have arrived on 'sleigh ride' C-130s or the like.

Unusual stuff by our standards. You can help by starting to watch the skies on ADS-B Exchange with military filter set, but it takes patience and skill to master seeing the unusual among the busy background.

Channel your inner autistโ€ฆ.

These planes will become highly relevant when the Panama Papers part of the plan unfolds. These planes are the 'Wheelmen of the sky', think Grand Theft Auto in the air. Lots of shell companies within shell companies and shuffling money, all done to evade the taxman.
