My ancestors risked their lives and livelihood helping to operate the Underground Railroad.
They wouldn't even put their boots on until off their wooden porch in fear the neighbors would hear them moving around after dark.
Where are my reparations for my ancestors' terror and sacrifice????
two things
first, my ancestors in question were white, very Baptist, and opposed slavery
second, I don't actually expect reparations, as I had nothing personally to do with their service and sacrifice.
Just pointing this out to show the hypocrisy of those who were never slaves expecting reparations for something they never personally experienced.
Still, if reparations do ever get approved for the descendants of slaves, I expect my share as one whose family helped many to Canada and freedom.
