Mind Expansion Game: A Musical Choose Your Own Adventure

Broaden your musical horizons; broaden your mind.

Step 1: choose a language that you do not speak or understand (yet)

Step 2: find music that you like in your target language by searching in one or more of these directions:

→ find bands or atists in your favourite genres (e.g. pop, rock, punk, folk - how does it sound in a different language?)

→ pick a decade and find classic hits from that era to immerse yourself in both a different language and a different time at once

→ find a music-focused radio station in your target language that plays music you enjoy to synch up with other listeners in real time and experience music you've never heard before

Step 3: gather the music that inspires you and include it in the soundtrack of your life so these songs become your songs - now you are a multi-lingual listener!

Tips & Resources

• You can choose any language, but it's easier to find resources if it's a commonly spoken language.

• Search for blog posts about music in your target language to find artists you might like.

• Youtube is a great resource for finding new music. Look up the translation of "lyrics video" in your target language and search youtube to find music that other people love (you really have to love a song to make a lyrics video for it).

• Once you've found one or two artists you like, most music platforms will automatically offer you more like that.
