I had this reoccurring dream for years, that I was in the military again. Always a bit different. Sometimes in a barracks. Sometimes on a parade grounds in formation.
Always said to myself in my dream, "I have to get myself out of here. This is a mistake." But I am stuck.
But I haven't had that dream for a few years now.
Ever since people started saying, "Thank you for your service."
Well, I was only in for 3 years, so it wasn't a career path. It was just something that I did when I was 18 because I didn't really have anything better going on.
My dad had been in the Navy during WW2 and my brother had been in the Air Force during Viet Nam, so I grew up thinking that's what guys do, they join the military.
