UNLV shooting suspect dead after 3 killed on campus, Las Vegas police say

(FF operation to push the agenda)

Updated on: December 7, 2023 /1/2

Three people were killed and one person was wounded in a shooting on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, campus Wednesday afternoon, police said. The suspect was killed by officers who rushed to the scene at UNLV and there was no ongoing threat to the community, police said later on Wednesday.

Two law enforcement sources told CBS News the gunman, who they described as awhite male in his sixties, was a former college professor who had previously taught in Georgia and North Carolina.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said at a Wednesday evening news conference that police know the identity of the suspect but would not release his name until the families of the victims are notified. But CBS Las Vegas affiliate KLAS-TV reports that its sources identified him as Anthony "Tony" Polito. The sources said Polito recently applied for a job at the university but didn't get it. He may have also had a connection to a person who works on campus, KLAS sources said.

McMahill had said earlier in the day that police did not know the suspect's motive.

The first call about the active shooter came at about 11:45 a.m. local time, after which metropolitan and university police immediately responded, shooting and killing the suspect outside of Beam Hall, McMahill said. The shooting originated on the fourth floor of the building.

In addition to the three people killed, one person was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound. The person was in stable condition, McMahill said. Four other people were hospitalized after suffering panic attacks.

Two police officers received minor injuries while searching the campus's rooms and buildings for more victims, McMahill said.

McMahill said that, during the attack, there was a gathering outside Beam Hall that included people eating and building Lego sets together. He said there could have been many more deaths if responding officers had not "raced to the campus" within minutes and engaged in armed contact.

"No student should have to fear pursuing their dreams on a college campus," McMahill said, calling the incident "a heinous, unforgivable crime."

Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that it had received three patients from the shooting, according to trauma medical director Chris Fisher.

A reunification center for families unable to contact their loved ones was opened at the campus's North Hall, Clark County Fire Chief John C. Steinbeck said at an afternoon news conference.

A federal law enforcement official told CBS News the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were responding and offering assistance with the investigation to the metropolitan police.

UNLV will remain closed for the week, and additional determinations will be made about whether it will reopen on Monday, university police chief Adam Garcia said at the evening news conference.

President Biden addressed the shooting in a statement Wednesday and called for measures to address "the epidemic of gun violence we face."… (stop sending money to Ukraine and it will fix itself!)

"Just hours ago, the University of Nevada at Las Vegas became the latest college campus to be terrorized by a horrific act of gun violence," Mr. Biden said in the statement, in which he also addressed shooting deaths in Austin and San Antonio, Texas.

"For all the action we have taken since I've been President, the epidemic of gun violence we face demands that we do even more. But we cannot do more without Congress," Mr. Biden wrote while urging Republican lawmakers to help pass an assault weapons ban and universal background checks, among other measures. (FF operation)

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman called the news "tragic and heartbreaking." "Praying for everyone on campus as law enforcement responds to the situation," she wrote. University president Brian Sandoval said this was "an unimaginably sad and shocking day for our entire state."

"We send our deepest sympathies and our thoughts are with the families of the multiple victims of this terrible tragedy. Today and in the days to come we are all Rebels," Sandoval wrote on social media.

Trump will leave NATO – ex Pentagon chief

Without the US to hold it up, the bloc would “collapse,” Mark Esper has told MSNBC

(KEK their biggest fear, its not about democracy in Ukraine or the EU, its to keep this useless blood and money sucking agency to continue to be funded by America, because the EU doesn’t contribute their 2%. That’s why they needed war in Ukraine and against Russia. In addition to feeding the beast of MIC, that’s why Esper is getting involved. He’s telling NATO and EU to interfere with the 2024 Election again! Esper needs his kickbacks.)

Former US President Donald Trump will pull American support for Ukraine if elected next year, setting in motion a chain of events that would lead to the collapse of NATO, his former defense secretary, Mark Esper, has claimed.

In an interview with MSNBC on Thursday, Esper was asked what the prospects of a second Trump presidency would mean for the future of NATO.

“I think one of the first things that would happen is he would withdraw support for Ukraine,” Esper replied. “And of course if that were to happen, the whole effort to support Ukraine in its war with Russia would eventually crumble. The United States is like the big block in the Jenga tower; you pull us out and everything collapses.”

Trump has repeatedly promised that he would end the conflict in Ukraine “within 24 hours” of his inauguration, should he defeat President Joe Biden in next year’s election. The former president has hinted that he would use military aid as leverage to achieve this by cutting off the flow of weapons to force Kiev to the negotiating table.

“His next move would be to begin pulling us out of NATO, certainly troops out of NATO countries,”Esper told MSNBC. “And eventually that could cause the collapse of the alliance … and the next – does he start looking, as he would discuss with me and others at the time – does he look to pull troops out of Korea, out of Japan, out of other countries that are allied with us?”

Throughout his presidency, Trump railed against NATO’s European members, accusing them of freeloading off the US’ massive military presence on the continent while failing to meet the bloc’s target of spending 2% of GDP on defense. Trump used NATO's annual summits to berate European leaders into boosting their military spending, and according to former National Security Adviser John Bolton, was ready to announce the US’ withdrawal from the alliance in 2018.

According to media reports, Trump also demanded that South Korea and Japan pay the US more to keep its forces stationed in both countries. While Trump carried out military strikes on Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, he attempted to pull American troops from all three countries and declared that he did not want US troops “to be the policemen of the world.”

Two months prior to Esper’s interview,“anonymous sources”told Rolling Stone magazine that Trump and his advisors have discussed pulling the US out of NATO or dramatically scaling back Washington’s commitment to the pact if he defeats Biden. According to the magazine, Trump told his team that his second administration would not be staffed by “NATO lovers.”

With the 2024 election less than a year away and Trump leading Biden in most polls, a flurry of newspaper articles and op-eds have been published in recent days claiming – often without evidence – that the former president would abandon NATO, sic the military on protesters, and attempt to install himself as“president for life” if successful in 2024. All of the articles’ authors were prominent critics of Trump during his presidency.

(PANIC in DC, EU and NATO! Ongoing war is the only way.)

EU state expels US embassy staff – El Pais

The decision followed allegations the personnel bribed host country intel agents, the newspaper has said

At least two employees at the US embassy in Madrid have been quietly expelled from Spain on suspicion of recruiting agents from the country’s National Intelligence Center (CNI) to obtain highly classified information, El Pais reported on Thursday, citing government sources.

According to the newspaper, two Spanish intelligence officers were arrested two months ago after an internal inspection revealed that they had gained access to classified information that was not required for their work and which they had no right to know.

The investigation found thatat least one of them had been bribed by US agents. The incident has not been made public as a Spanish court has ordered the case kept secret.

US agents are believed to have begun recruiting the officers more than a year ago, El Espanol reported.

Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles summoned the US ambassador in Madrid, Julissa Reynoso, and asked for an explanation. The diplomat said she was unaware of what had happened, apologized and promised to cooperate with the investigation as much as possible, according to El Pais.

The Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs agreed on the discreet expulsion of at least two US staff involved in the recruitment and bribery of CNI agents, as Washington hastened to withdraw them, the article reported.

The recruitment of secret agents of the host state to betray their own country is considered an openly hostile action,” the newspaper detailed, noting that the occasions when Spain refuses to share information of interest to Washington “are counted between one and none” and it is unclear why the US had to pay when they “get everything they ask for.”

This is not the first time the US has been suspected of spying on its allies. In 2013, an international scandal erupted after former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden leaked information about Washington’s eavesdropping on former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Two years ago, Reuters reported that in addition to tapping Merkel’s phone, the US National Security Agency (NSA) had allegedly spied on senior officials in Sweden, Norway, France and Germany using Danish information cables.

Russian intel chief warns US of ‘second Vietnam’

Western attempts to exhaust Russia in the Ukraine conflict could backfire, Sergey Naryshkin has said

The US risks sleepwalking into another Vietnam War-style debacle by backing Kiev in its fight with Moscow, Sergey Naryshkin, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), has said.

In an opinion piece for Razvedchik magazine issued by the SVR and published on Thursday, Naryshkin predicted tectonic geopolitical shifts in the coming year. They would be marked, he warned, by an intensified confrontation between the West and those countries that oppose its hegemony.

The intelligence chief suggested that the Western bloc would try to defend the dominance that is slipping from its grasp, with the ripples of the struggle likely to spread across the world.

The West will be particularly focused on the Ukraine conflict, Naryshkin predicted. It “would try as much as possible to prolong the fighting”in a bid to turn hostilities into “a second Afghanistan” and defeat Russia in a battle of attrition, using unprecedented sanctions and pumping Kiev with weapons.

However, he warned that there is a high chance that continued support for the “Kiev junta” – given that the Ukraine conflict is becoming an increasingly “toxic” issue in the eyes of the global community – would lead to a rapid erosion of Western authority.

The further we go, the more Ukraine will turn into a ‘black hole’, absorbing material and human resources. In the end, the US risks bringing upon itself a ‘second Vietnam’.”

According to Naryshkin, should this come to pass, every US administration will have to deal with this conundrumuntil “a more or less reasonable person comes to power in Washington” with enough courage and determination to extinguish the crisis.

The 1955-1975 Vietnam War, in which the US actively supported anti-Communist forces, is widely regarded as one of the worst conflicts in America's recent history. Apart from claiming the lives of about 58,000 US soldiers, it shattered public confidence in the government, in no small measure due to several controversies surrounding alleged war crimes committed by Washington.

Under relentless public pressure, US forces completely withdrew from Vietnam in 1973, with the Washington-backed government being defeated a few years later.

Russian officials have repeatedly warned the West against arming Ukraine, arguing that it will only prolong the conflict but not change its ultimate outcome.Moscow has also said that by supporting Kiev, NATO is essentially waging a war against Russia.

Russia ‘hacked’ British politicians and journalists, minister claims

Moscow has dismissed similar allegations as “baseless” and “evidence free”

Russian spies have run a “cyber interference”campaign on British politicians, civil servants, and journalists for almost a decade, a minister in the UK Foreign Office has claimed. The minister did not provide evidence, and Moscow has denied similar allegations in the past.

In an address to parliament on Thursday, MP Leo Docherty claimed that a group of hackers “almost certainly” affiliated with Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) have “selectively leaked and amplified information”since 2015. The hackers obtained this information by impersonating the contacts of their targets and sending them malicious links by email, Docherty alleged.

Docherty said that two Russians supposedly responsible for the 2018 hack and release of documents from the Institute for Statecraft – a think tank linked to British intelligence – were affiliated with the FSB, and would be sanctioned in response. Docherty added that the Russian ambassador had been summoned to be informed of the sanctions.

The 2018 hack revealed that the British government funded a network of pro-Western “influencers” across Europe, ran a domestic smear campaign against then-Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn, and interfered in elections in the Balkans, among other activities.

At the time, a group affiliated with the ‘Anonymous’ hacktivist collective claimed responsibility for the breach. Britain’s National Crime Agency investigated the hack and found no “forensic proof” of Russian involvement.

In his address on Thursday, Docherty also accused two units within the FSB of hacking the private conversations of politicians from the Labour and Conservative parties since 2015, and releasing the details of UK-US trade negotiations ahead of the 2019 general election.

“They have targeted members of this House and the [House of Lords],” Docherty declared. “They have been targeting civil servants, journalists, and NGOs. They have been targeting high-profile individuals and entities with a clear intent – using information they obtain to meddle in British politics.”

Docherty’s claims echo those found in a 2020 parliamentary report that accused Russia of waging “influence campaigns” targeting the 2014 Scottish independence referendum and the 2016 Brexit referendum. However, the report’s authors concluded that they had found no hard evidence of interference in the Brexit vote, having received “just six lines of text” as evidence from the UK’s domestic spy agency, MI5.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed the 2020 report as “nothing sensational,” while Kremlin spokesman =•Dmitry Peskov wrote it off as “just a new round of evidence-free allegations.”== Russia has consistently denied accusations of interference in Western politics, most famously during the ‘Russiagate’ investigation of then-President Donald Trump in the US. The investigation ended with a report finding no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

(Why is MI5 and MI6 so incapable of protecting the government secrets of the UK Is the real question?Whoops the spy agencies hacked their own country so lets blame it on Russia== Apparently they’ve never heard of China’s hacking abilities.)

EU must talk to Russia – Beijing

China warned Brussels that sanctions and military aid would not work against Moscow, diplomat Wu Hongbo has said

The European Union must avoid driving Russia “into a corner” and sit down to talks with Moscow if it hopes to end the conflict in Ukraine, China’s envoy to Europe insisted on Wednesday.

Speaking to the state broadcaster CGTN, Special Representative on European Affairs Wu Hongbo said thathe warned his EU counterparts from the outset that “military intervention or sanctions” would not deter Moscowfrom carrying out its military operation in Ukraine.

“They wouldn’t believe us,” Wu said, adding that “since the sanctions did not work at all and the military supplies only added fuel to the fire,” EU officials have approached the Chinese Foreign Ministry, asking Chinese diplomats to “convince [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to put a stop to the conflict.”

Wu added that hetold the Europeans not to “overestimate our influence on Russia,” and reminded them that “Russia is an independent sovereign state.”

“We also said that the issue should be handled with care,” Wu continued. “If you continue to push and there is no way for the other to maneuver, it’s like you drive someone into a corner and it will be very difficult for the two sides to sit down.”

Wu insisted that the conflict can only be ended with a “negotiated settlement,” and that whatever security framework emerges in Europe afterwards, Russia must be involved in its formation.

The day after Wu’s interview, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Beijing. While von der Leyen told Xi that “it is essential to put an end to the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” a readout of the meeting from the Chinese Foreign Ministry simply said that the EU side would like to “work for the settlement of regional hotspots including Ukraine and the Middle East.”

In meetings with Xi and his officials earlier this year, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz both pressed the Chinese government to convince Putin to withdraw from Ukraine. Both were unsuccessful, with Xi continuing to promote China’s 12-point roadmap to settling the conflict, and thetwo EU state leaders returning to their policies of arming Ukraine while insisting that Kiev alonewill decide when to sue for peace.

(Even China is getting fed up with the EU strategy and stupidity.)

UK special forces secretly operated in Ukraine – media

A new book alleges that Western commandos were on the ground in Kiev

British special forces operators were embedded with Ukrainian troops in the early days of the conflict, Declassified UK reported on Wednesday, citing the newly publishedbook by Polish journalist Zbigniew Parafianowicz.

Parafianowicz is the Ukraine correspondent for the Polish daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (DGP). His latest work, ‘Polska na Wojnie’ (Poland at War), examines Warsaw’s role in the neighboring conflict.

According to Declassified, at one point, a Polish government minister – who is not named – told Parafianowicz about a time in March 2022 when he was traveling from Kiev to Zhitomir.

“It was a time when the Russians were still standing in Bucha, and the route was a gray zone. It was possible to run into Russians. We passed the last checkpoint. The Ukrainians told us that we continue at our own risk,” the unnamed minister reportedly said.“Well, and who did we meet next? Ukrainian soldiers and … British special forces. Uniformed. With weapons.”

According to Parafianowicz’s source, the British and the Ukrainians worked together, driving around the countryside with artillery tracking radars, “learning about this war.”

The same official also said thatPolish special forcesbased in Lublinhad been in Brovary, a suburb of Kiev, “on the first day” of the hostilities. Poles – along with Brits and Americans – hadbeen training the Ukrainian special forces since 2014, the minister said. According to Parafianowicz, Britain’s Special Air Service (SAS) had trained President Vladimir Zelensky’s security detail as well.

Another source, identified only as a high-ranking Polish officer, said that these commandos did not return to Poland, but “went in the opposite direction” – to Kharkov and parts of Donbass controlled by Ukrainians.

“They cooperated with the British,” the officer said. “Later, we worked out a formula for our presence in Ukraine …we were simply sent on paid leave. Politicians pretended not to see this.”

According to Declassified, some of thesePolish commandos may have trained members of the neo-Nazi ‘Azov’ movement– specifically the ‘Kraken’ unit based in Kharkov – in the use of British-supplied NLAW rocket launchers. Social media posts identified them only as “instructors from NATO countries.”

Parafianowicz’s book appears to confirm previous media reports about NATO commandos fighting alongside Ukrainian troops. In April 2022, the French daily Le Figaro claimed thatSAS and Delta Force operators had waged a “secret war” on behalf of Ukrainesince the beginning of Russia’s military operation. Shortly after those revelations, The Times said a number of SAS operators had returned to Ukraine to teach Kiev’s soldiers how to operate British-made anti-tank rockets. Last December, aBritish military publication admitted that up to 300 Royal Marineshad been deployed to Ukraine for “discrete operations.”

Classified Pentagon documents that were leaked in April this year also showed at least 50 British special forces operators were still active in Ukraine as of March.

(What’s unbelievable is Ukraine still lost the war and made absolutely no progress. But RT mentioned foreign forces were spotted there numerous times, so they knew from the beginning that special forces would come from NATO allies, probably trying to protect the Biolabs that were revealed at the beginning of the operation.)

Some conscripted Ukrainian ‘marines’ can’t swim – BBC

Inexperienced men are being thrown into a maelstrom of Russian fire near Kherson, a soldier told the British state broadcaster

Young and untrained Ukrainian conscripts are being rushed to a deadly stretch of the frontline near Kherson, only to be pummeled by Russian drones and gunfire, an anonymous soldier told the BBC. He also claimed thatUkraine's real losses at this flashpoint were being covered up by President Vladimir Zelensky.

Little more than a hamlet, the village of Krinki sits on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River, just under 40km northeast of Kherson. For the past several weeks, Ukrainian forces assembled on the western bank have been attempting to cross the river and set up a bridgehead from which to launch further attacks into the Russian rear.

The Ukrainian military claimed last week that its forces had crossed the river and were inflicting “fire damage on the enemy's rear.” Zelensky said that while he would like additional Western weapons, he was “satisfied” with the progress of his troops.

In an article published on Monday, ananonymous Ukrainian soldierfighting near Krinki told the BBC that “the real situation is being hushed up.

“The entire river crossing is under constant fire,” the soldier said. “I've seen boats with my comrades on board just disappear into the water after being hit, lost forever to the Dnieper river.”

“When we arrived on the [eastern] bank, the enemy was waiting. Russians whom we managed to capturesaid their forces were tipped off about our landingso when we got there, they knew exactly where to find us. They threw everything at us – artillery, mortars and flamethrower systems. I thought I'd never get out,” he continued.

Those who managed to dig in on the eastern bank “were trapped,” he said, explaining how Russian drones “are constantly buzzing in the air, ready to strike as soon as they see movement.” Men who leave their trenches are “immediately targeted,” he added, complaining thatsupplies of food and water are scarcedue to Russian forces targeting Ukrainian supply lines.

Able-bodied men are also in short supply, with the soldier explaining that his sector was supposed to be manned by several brigades, and not individual companies.

“There are a lot of young guys among us,” he said. “We need people, but trained people, not the green ones we have there now. There are guys who had spent just three weeks in training, and only managed to shoot a few times.”

The soldier also complained that getting competent and motivated conscripts had also become a challenge, noting that “everyone who wanted to volunteer for war came a long time ago - it's too hard now to tempt people with money. Now we're getting those who didn't manage to escape the draft. You'll laugh at this, but some of our marines can't even swim."

(There is nothing funny about this. This title says it all, it’s just evil what they are doing. When Bidan said “they will fight until the last Ukrainian” was true and expected.)

Ukraine reveals new weapons (Christmas) wish list – Reuters

Kiev is reportedly seeking the US-made THAAD missile system and F-18 Hornet fighter jets

Ukraine’s military has circulated a list of arms it hopes to receive from Washington over the coming months, including several new weapons not featured in past US aid packages, according to Reuters.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry staffers handed out a “list of armaments to meet the needs of defense forces of Ukraine” during a closed-door meeting among officials and weapons industry executives in Washington, DC on Wednesday, a copy of which was later obtained by Reuters.

The “comprehensive” list features a number of weapons Kiev has sought previously – including 155-millimeter artillery shells, F-16s and long-range ATACMS missiles – but also includes several major systems that have not appeared in past requests. Among the new items are theF-18 Hornet fighter jet, the C-130J Super Hercules transport plane, two different helicopter gunships, and even thepricey Terminal High Altitude Area Defense(THAAD) air defense system.

In US service since 2008, the THAAD surface-to-air missile system is designed to shoot down short, medium and intermediate-range projectiles, and has been deployed to the territory of several US partners, including Israel, South Korea and Romania. While the weapon has seen little real-life use on the battlefield since it was developed, it is thought to have an operational range of up to 200 kilometers (124 miles).

Though Kiev’s latest request made no mention of cost, together the weapons would carry a multi-billion-dollar price tag for US taxpayers.

Legislation that would devote additional military aid to Ukraine is currently moving through the US Congress, but has faced stiff Republican opposition as some lawmakers grow skeptical of the American largesse. On Wednesday, Senate Republicans blocked the security package from advancing, urging opponents across the aisle to approve stricter immigration controls at the US-Mexico border.

President Joe Biden has said he is ready to make “significant compromises” on border policy if it meant passing the spending package, but chastised GOP members who he said were “willing to literally kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield and damage our national security.”

Biden’s top budget official, Shalanda Young, warned that Washington was “out of money”for Kiev earlier this week, telling reporters that “without congressional action, by the end of the year, we will run out of resources to procure more weapons and equipment for Ukraine and to provide equipment from US military stocks.”

She went on to note that, as of mid-November, the Pentagon had spent 97% of the $62.3 billion it received for Ukraine this year, while the State Department and US Agency for International Development (USAID) had used up 100% of the funds allocated.

(Why is the US still stringing them along? BTW they have billions in the bank that they haven’t spent and are collecting interest, why not use that money Ukraine has?)
