I have a question for American mortgage holders… Last weekend, my sister-in-law matter of factually told me that Americans can write off their mortgage payments in their taxes. I didn't believe her at the time,. and still do not believe her…but it's been weighing on my mind all week that it holds no logic.
Can anyone please confirm or deny for me, so my mind can put it to rest?

Canada. I've never heard of this deduction, though we can use rental payments against income taxes. To be honest, I've not paid too much attention, just fill in the blanks!
