hack = working around shitty software that violates standards intentionally
you know I got software that follows web standards, but it doesn't work in modern browsers for modern audiences, like yourself.
that's the fault of the modern browsers, not the fault of the software.
sure, you can run the internal web server externally, that would work for now. But this also means that when internet goes down, so does your intranet service, which is very important for the line of business you are in (up time is supposed to be 99.99999999%), which makes doing so a really really stupid idea
See, it's running fine, then something breaks shit, and now I am supposed to do things that don't make sense just to make it sort of work again which always includes drawbacks.
And of course it's garbage web browsers, and you are not even told what the fuck they added. And they have no clue about OCI, which is also a standard for transmitting catalog data from an ordering system to another system including ERP or another ordering system. And these hacks break it all, because muh must violate web standard to protect users by not transmitting cookies in certain situations, because that will totally help.
I'm sure if I would write a bug report, they would say "what's OCI???"
Even that's the fucking job of for example the router software, not the job of a fucking web browser to castrate itself.
It's like enforcing HTTPS everywhere. Great idea, what are all these web interfaces on the intranet? Doesn't matter, we need HTTPS everywhere now. So you can't access these web sites anymore, who cares.
(and HTTPS by itself is full on garbage anyway, trust 100+ authorities, but you see it got a lock, that means it's secure and safe, like the covid vaccine)
just find a way
oopsie, new version of web browser now also blocks that
just find another way
fuck that
