Biden pledges $200 million for Ukraine after Zelensky meeting

The US leader urged Congress to pass stalled “supplemental funds” for Kiev as he met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky

US President Joe Biden has promised another $200 million in emergency military aid for Ukraine. He made the pledge during an Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Tuesday.

The meeting comes after a bill intended to provide $60 billion in aid for Kiev was blocked in the US Senate last week, as Republicans demanded tougher immigration control on the southern US border in exchange for approving Ukraine assistance.

Speaking to reporters after the Tuesday meeting, Biden insisted that Congress “pass the supplemental funding for Ukraine” before breaking for recess, adding that failure to do so would be “the greatest Christmas gift” to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The decisions we make now are going to determine the future for decades to come, particularly in Europe,” Biden said.

The latest $200 million in aid announced by Biden will come from the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which allows the Biden administration to transfer weapons from US stocks without congressional approval in case of an emergency.

‘I am a Zionist’ – Biden

The US will provide military aid to Israel “until they get rid of Hamas,” the American president said

US President Joe Biden expressed his “unshakable” commitment to Israel’s security at a White House reception event on Monday, marking the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. He also pledged continued military support for West Jerusalem amid its conflict with the Gaza-based Palestinian militant group, Hamas.

The US remains Israel’s most important ally amid the ongoing conflict, which has sparked widespread condemnation in the Muslim world and beyond over Israeli bombardments of Gaza. The strikes have led to heavy civilian casualties, according to local medical authorities.

On Monday, Biden blasted what he called a “sickening” surge of anti-Semitism both in the US and around the world amid the conflict. “We see it across our communities and schools and colleges and social media,” he said, adding that “silence is complicity.”

Speaking to Jewish lawmakers and other attendees, the president said that his “commitment to the safety of the Jewish people and the security of Israel, its right to exist as an independent Jewish state, is unshakeable.” He then vowed to “continue to provide military assistance to Israel until they get rid of Hamas,” adding, however, that both Washington and West Jerusalem had to be careful not to antagonize “the world’s public opinion.”

Over the weekend, the Biden administration bypassed congressional authority over military aid to Israel and granted emergency approval for the sale of $106.5 million worth of tank ammunition to West Jerusalem. The move came as the White House struggled to gain congressional approval for $106 billion in supplemental security spending, including $14.3 billion for Israel.

The US president also said that he felt an “unquestionable” connection to the Jewish community. “I ran into trouble and criticism when I said a few years ago that you don’t have to be Jewish to be a Zionist, and I am a Zionist,” he added, speaking to a gathering of some 800 people.

Last week, the US was the only member of the UN Security Council to veto an emergency resolution calling for an emergency ceasefire in Gaza. Last Friday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said “there is a serious risk of starvation and famine,” noting that 97% of households in northern Gaza and 83% of displaced people in the south “are not eating enough.”

Israel launched its military operation in Gaza in response to a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7 that claimed the lives of some 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians. More than 240 people were also taken hostage by the militants.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded with massive bombings of the Palestinian enclave, followed by a ground operation. The death toll in the enclave linked to Israeli actions has surpassed 18,400, according to the latest estimates by the Gaza Health Ministry

Lawmakers Introduce Bipartisan Legislation Demanding Harvard, MIT Presidents Resign

>Israel can get away with genocide, thanks to Epstein and Co the entire world is silent.

Update (1640ET): Hours after Harvard announced they won't fire President Claudine Gay for refusing to condemn antisemitism on campus, as well as being a serial plagiarist, a bipartisan group of four House lawmakers are set to introduce a resolution Tuesday which denounces antisemitism at universities, NBC News reports.

The resolution, first obtained by NBC News, is authored by House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y.; the three other lead sponsors are Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., and two Jewish American Democrats, Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chair Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey and Rep. Jared Moskowitz of Florida.

The resolution comes exactly one week after the presidents of Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania came under fire after they appeared at a House hearing and dodged questions from Stefanik about whether students calling for the genocide of Jews violated school codes of conduct and should be punished.

Over the weekend, Elizabeth Magill, President of UPenn, resigned over her testimony to a House committee in which she refused to commit to an answer. Harvard's governing body, however, said on Tuesday that Gay would keep her job.

"There is a reason why the testimony at the Education and Workforce Committee garnered 1 billion views worldwide. And it’s because those university presidents made history by putting the most morally bankrupt testimony into the Congressional Record, and the world saw it," said Stafanik at a press conference earlier in the day.

Democrats Combine All Their Gun Control Plans Into One Comprehensive Bill

Democrats have reintroduced previously failed proposals representing an exhaustive list of almost all of the gun control bills they have been pushing.

The "Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act of 2023" (Act) has been introduced in Congress each session since at least 2015. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) reintroduced the bill in the Senate on Dec. 6. She wrote on her website that legislation is vital to ending violent crimes committed with guns.

“We’re in a gun violence crisis: 2023 is on track to see the most mass shootings in recent history, and gun violence is now the leading cause of death for children and young people,” Ms. Warren wrote on her webpage. “I’m renewing the push for my comprehensive Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act."

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) is sponsoring the legislation in the House. He wrote on his website that the proposed law would benefit minorities and women.

“It’s painfully obvious that communities of color disproportionately bear the brunt of gun violence in the United States, particularly Black women, who are twice as likely as white women to be fatally shot by an intimate partner,” Mr. Johnson wrote.

According to Mr. Johnson, the bill incorporates the other gun control bills in Congress.

“The Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act incorporates a number of bills,” he wrote on his website.

Ms. Warren’s bill has been referred to the Senate Finance Committee. Mr. Johnson’s bill is in the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

The bills would nullify current laws and establish stricter gun regulations.

According to a summary of the bill, at the top of the list is the requirement for a federal or state-issued license to “purchase or own a firearm or ammunition.”

The proposed law also calls for universal background checks and the elimination of the so-called “Charleston loophole” by requiring a completed background check before a sale’s completion.

The Charleston Loophole refers to the fact that the killer in the June 27, 2015, mass shooting at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, was able to take possession of the rifle he used because the government failed to complete his background check within 72 hours.

That is, the law currently allows a gun dealer to complete a sale if the background check is not done within 72 hours. In theory, it is meant to prevent government officials from dragging their feet on background checks.

UN General Assembly passes resolution calling for ceasefire in Gaza, Australia votes in favour but US and Israel go against the motion

The United Nations has called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, with 153 votes in favour of the resolution.

The United Nations has called for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza on Tuesday, with more than 153 members voting in favour of the resolution, 10 voting against and 23 abstaining.

Australia was among those who voted in favour.

Among the countries that voted against included the United States, Israel and Austria. The United Kingdom voted to abstain.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has also called for a "sustainable ceasefire" in Gaza in a joint statement on Wednesday with the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

"Australia, Canada, and New Zealand mourn every Israeli and Palestinian innocent life which has been lost in this conflict and express our condolences to all families and communities affected by the violence," the statement read.

"We unequivocally condemn Hamas’ terror attacks on Israel on October 7, the appalling loss of life, and the heinous acts of violence perpetrated in those attacks, including sexual violence. We condemn Hamas’ unacceptable treatment of hostages and call for the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages.

"We recognise Israel’s right to exist and right to defend itself. In defending itself, Israel must respect international humanitarian law. Civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected. We are alarmed at the diminishing safe space for civilians in Gaza. The price of defeating Hamas cannot be the continuous suffering of all Palestinian civilians.

"We support Palestinians’ right to self-determination. We oppose the forcible displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, the re-occupation of Gaza, any reduction in territory, and any use of siege or blockade. We emphasize that Gaza must no longer be used as a platform for terrorism. We reaffirm that settlements are illegal under international law. Settlements and settler violence are serious obstacles to a negotiated two-state solution."

In the statement, the three leaders said they "condemn rising antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Arab sentiment" in their respective countries and around the world.

The leaders also called for Hamas to release all hostages and to "stop using Palestinian civilians as human shields, and lay down its arms".

Watchdog: Soros-Linked Milwaukee District Attorney Refuses to Review Cases of Potential Illegal Voting

Milwaukee County District Attorney (DA) John Chisholm (D) is refusing to review hundreds of cases of potential illegal voting via Wisconsin’s same-day registration policy, researchers at the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) say.

According to PILF researchers, Chisholm has not bothered to review at least 354 cases of potential illegal voting that were referred to the Milwaukee County DA’s Office since 2020.

“Election officials are best situated to notice and investigate potential violations of election law,” PILF President J. Christian Adams said in a statement:

Wisconsin requires election officials to investigate same-day registrations and refer individuals who appear to have used bad addresses to prosecuting authorities. When a DA refuses to even look at the evidence, that harms Wisconsin elections. [Emphasis added]

The potential illegal voting cases, PILF researchers say, came as a result of Wisconsin’s policy that allows same-day voter registration on election day.

In the 2020 general election, for example, more than 21,000 Milwaukee residents voted after registering that same day. Of those same-day registrants, more than 1,200 gave election officials addresses that later came up as undeliverable.

Election officials inactivated 349 of those voter registrations and referred them to the DA’s Office. None of those cases, though, have been reviewed by Chisholm thus far, PILF researchers say.

Chisholm, the Capital Research Center reports, is among 30 DAs across the United States who have been elected with direct or indirect support from billionaire George Soros.

“John Chisholm has been a thoroughbred Soros DA for many years … in 2016, facing a Democratic challenger in the primary, Chisolm received $21,000 in support from Soros’s Safety and Justice PAC,” the Capital Research Center reported in March.

Al Gore Says There is a Mental Health Crisis Around the World Because “We Are Not Solving the Climate Crisis”

Global warming charlatan Al Gore appeared on CNN on Sunday and told host Jake Tapper that there is a mental health crisis around the world because of the unsolved ‘climate change’ crisis.

“There is a mental health crisis around the world, I think that one of the main reasons for that is that young people look at the fact that we are not yet solving the climate crisis,” Al Gore said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.

“We hear the word thrown around ‘poly-crisis.’ Well, solving the climate crisis is a ‘poly-solution.’ We know what to do. We have the means to do it. And we have to make sure that we make the right political choices in our democracy to enable ourselves to make the right choices,” Al Gore said.
