Should have been brushing the teeth/gums with a veterinary grade enzyme toothpaste. I use a small child's toothbrush on my little dog. He had 14 teeth pulled and his mouth smelled like death before I got him to vet.
Get the tooth pulled and gums healed on frens cat, no more soft/canned food. Kibble only. Crunchy kibble keeps plaque cleaned off.
