I took a speech class at a junior college in 1985 where one of the students gave a speech in front of the class telling us that she earned 40k working for IBM. The girl was barely literate and could not use proper English grammar. She told us that her boss told her to sign up for a speech class and he would give her a raise. Obviously she signed up for the wrong class. What he really wanted her to take was a grammar class. Something she should have learned all through grade school and high school, but obviously didn't.

No one in the class could believe that this barely literate, grammar deficient bonehead was making 40k doing God knows what. Probably just showing up to work occasionally.
