FORNEY, Texas [Story has been updated throughout] — Motorists should expect major delays both east and westbound U.S. Highway 80 on Monday due to a plane crash.

Around 2:40 p.m., the Forney Police Department and Forney Fire Department responded to U.S. Highway 80 just east of the Pinson Road Bridge for the reported plane crash.

The airplane, a fixed wing multi-engine Piper PA-23-250, is registered to Pacific Fleet Aviation LLC out of Rochester, New York.

There is no word on injuries or number of souls onboard the plane at the time of the crash. Law enforcement indicate there were no reported injuries.

The plane appears to have been traveling westbound over the highway before striking the ground, striking the center median divider cable, and traveling further westbound until it struck a highway guardrail.

According to flight data obtained by inForney.com, the plane departed Mesquite Municipal Airport at 9:31 a.m. and stopped transmitting from the site of the wreck at 2:42 p.m.

Flight data indicates the plane had flown south in the area of Mexia and Fairfield, Texas, on Monday, December 18, 2023, and conducted survey-like maneuvers in the area. Additional flight data shows flight records of the same in and around the north Texas area this past week and in New Mexico earlier this month.

Texas Department of Transportation and witness images don't show any involved vehicles.

A law enforcement source tells inForney.com the plane reportedly ran out of fuel, forcing its attempted landing on U.S. Highway 80.

The inside lanes of both east and westbound U.S. Highway 80 are closed near the site of the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has been dispatched and will investigate the crash along with the NTSB and FAA.

>Do you remember him as the drummer?

Not really. Do remember when Bon Scott died and the future of the band was in doubt. And then Back in Black came out and all the fans were relieved to see them back in form with a new singer who very much kept to the same sort of vocal style. So the band's music did not change that much. Which was cool for the fans. From what I read about him he was a founding member and was fired within the first couple of years of the band and then returned later but not permanently. But the band issued a statement and anon felt it appropriate to post out of respect.
