Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky End-of-Year News Conference
During a news conference in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his commanders were seeking to mobilize 450,000 to 500,000 additional soldiers in Ukraine’s war against Russia, but that he wanted more details before approving this “very sensitive matter.” He said he was confident the U.S. and other allies would continue to provide military aid, though admitted he did not know when the war would end. Further, he denied that Ukraine was on the cusp of losing against Russia, but conceded several challenges remain. This portion of the news conference also contains President Zelensky’s remarks on the Israel-Hamas war, the possibility of Donald Trump being elected U.S. president again, possible NATO membership, and war strategy.
