Unlawful Arrest Victim Charged With Manslaughter

A young man was outside his hotel eating. The cop saw him and apparently thought he was suspicious so he stopped him. The man didn't speak or understand english well, and the cop said he had someone who speaks spanish on the way. He kept questioning him though. The cop ends up tackling, tasing, beating, and arresting him. The cop later died of a heart attack, so the young man who did nothing wrong to begin with is charged with manslaughter.

On March 4, 2022, at around 6 in the morning. Deputy Michael McMaster of the Paulding County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a suspicious person attempting to break into a vehicle in the Evans Mill Subdivision. The description of the suspect was a person who was wearing a hoodie and a backpack. Shortly after the call, Deputy McMaster arrived at the location and observed Tyler Canaris walking along the roadside at the entrance to the subdivision. Canaris, who was wearing a hoodie and a backpack, appeared to match the description of the suspect that was provided by dispatch.

What transpires during this interaction would lead to an eventual lawsuit and Deputy McMaster no longer being employed by this department.
