Newspaper apologizes for 'anti-semitic' Zelensky cartoon

The caricature of a greedy Ukrainian leader pilfering American money was “hurtful,” the Toronto Sun said

The Toronto Sun has apologized for publishing a cartoon depicting Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stealing a wallet from US President Joe Biden’s back pocket. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the cartoon “anti-Semitic.”

Published on Wednesday, the cartoon showed Zelensky lifting the billfold from Biden’s trousers as the pair walked arm in arm. Drawn by American artist Gary Varvel, the cartoon was printed a week after Zelensky traveled to Washington to plead with lawmakers to pass a bill containing more than $60 billion in military aid for Ukraine.

Biden has spent recent months attempting to convince the Republican Party to drop its opposition to the bill, with no success. If passed, it would bring the total amount of military and economic aid allocated to Kiev by the US to more than $170 billion since February 2022.

The cartoon was condemned by Ukrainian activists, with Canada-Ukraine Foundation Director Yaroslav Baron accusing the newspaper of “insult[ing] Ukrainian dignity,”perpetuating “anti-Semitic stereotypes,” and advancing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “propaganda efforts.”

A US- and NATO-backed “foreign disinformation monitoring” platform complained about the cartoon, arguing thatdepictions of “the Ukrainian government as corrupt” are “false.” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau then weighed in, claiming that the cartoon’s depiction of a hook-nosed and greedy Zelensky promoted “the worst kind of anti-Semitism.” (Disinfowatch-Fake news monitoring peddles fake news, with calling everything disinformation even “the stupendous corruption of Ukraine that has been reported 20-25 years by government agencies”. Three months ago, Trudeau and Zelensky took part in a standing ovation for a Ukrainian Nazi veteran at the Canadian parliament in Ottawa. Zelensky is Jewish.

Amid the pressure campaign, the Toronto Sun backed down. “The cartoon did not meet our editorial standards, we were wrong to run it and we apologize,” Editor-in-Chief Adrienne Batra wrote in an op-ed on Thursday.

“It was hurtful to Canadians of Ukrainian origin, and to all Ukrainians, fighting an existential struggle against Russian aggression,” Bartra continued. “It was hurtful to Canadians of Jewish origin, and to the Jewish people, currently under assault from a global wave of anti-Semitism. We failed them and we failed all of you, our readers.”

Bartra also announced that the newspaper would no longer print the cartoonist’s work.

While the apology was hailed by pro-Ukrainian activists, some independent pundits condemned the newspaper’s about-turn. Journalist Glenn Greenwald called the apology “dumb and humiliating,” describing the cartoon as a “completely banal and common political cartoon showing Zelensky picking the pockets of Biden – because he's, you know, demanding billions more for Ukraine's war.”

Zelensky is in a pickle. It’s becoming more apparent, even to his supporters, that Ukraine is unlikely to win this conflict with Russia. In addition, not just Americans but many other nations funding Ukraine are growing weary of this costly and pointless “war.” Many in the US are questioning why there hasn’t been a push for peace talks. We just keep funneling them money, and nobody knows where it’s going. Additionally, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has diverted global attention, taking even more focus away from Zelensky.

And as if these challenges weren’t daunting enough for Zelensky, one of his former military officers, Oleksiy Arestovych, has made a striking revelation that only adds to Zelensky’s headache. Arestovych’s latest disclosure about the war and the real underlying reasons for Zelensky’s struggles has hit like a bombshell.

In short, the illegitimate elitist Zelensky has treated the average working person so poorly that they have no desire or incentive to fight for him or his cause.

Yet, when conflict arises, these same controlled elites expect the peasants to shed their blood willingly. Ukrainian TV host flees to EU

Aleksey Pechiy has decided to stay in Brussels amid talk of total mobilization in Kiev

Ukrainian TV channel 24 has disowned high-profile presenter Aleksey Pechiy and accused him of betraying public trust afterhe refused to return to Kievfrom a trip to cover the European Council summit in Brussels earlier this month.

The reporter issued a lengthy missive on social media on Friday, explaining his “difficult decision” to stay in the EU. He argued thathis primary goal as a journalist is to “shape the audience’s attitude to certain events,” and since “the level of support for Ukraine among Western society is changing” he had no choice but to stay behind to promote “horizontal communication with Western society.” (He’s admitting all the news does is manipulate with propaganda with narrative seeding.)

Despite condemnation, pressure and persecution, I will not stop doing what I know and what can bring our victory even a little closer,” he said, adding that he is “aware that public condemnation awaits me in Ukraine.”

The CEO of Lux Media Holding, which owns the channel, Roman Andreiko, said Pechiy has “literally burned all bridges,” fully realizing “all the consequences of his escape.” (Kek, when high profile propagandists don’t even believe the propaganda they spew, many more will desert the death monster Zelensky and the oligarchs!)

“To say that I am shocked is an understatement! … And the people who loved watching and listening to Aleksey’s [analyses] so much, must accept this and decide for themselves whether they are ready to continue to believe him,” he added.

Kiev closed its border for men of conscription age after the hostilities with Russia erupted in February last year, banning anyone without a special waiver from leaving. However, thousands of Ukrainian men bribed their way out, mainly into EU nations. Nearly 190,000 Ukrainian men settled in Germany alone.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov told Bild this week that all Ukrainian men of military age who have fled abroad will be summoned to recruitment centers. He said he has little sympathy for draft dodgers, insisting “it’s not a punishment to defend and serve your country. It’s an honor.”

Ukraine is currently struggling to refill the ranks of its army after a failed summer counteroffensive, and is taking additional measures to enhance border controls. President Vladimir Zelensky said earlier this month that the nation’s military had proposed calling up an additional 450,000-500,000 people. Zelensky’s aide, Mikhail Podoliak, said on Friday that no one should be allowed to just “sit out” the conflict with Russia.

Many find it hard to believe that the American public would re-elect a bumbling nitwit. However, a significant portion of Americans have been brainwashed by media propaganda to view President Trump as “racist” and the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. Our state-run regime media has been relentless in spreading these false narratives. Take the Russia hoax, for instance, and other distorted stories. There’s also their refusal to correct fake news, like the “very fine people” hoax, which even Joe Biden refers to as truth, with no correction from the hacks within our media. It seems the prevailing attitude among them is that when it comes to defeating Trump, the ends justify the means. Basically, anything goes.

With this in mind, there’s a new theory emerging regarding the current polling. We’ve seen numerous polls showing President Trump way ahead of Joe Biden, which has brought a sense of relief to many conservatives. But could there be more to this narrative? According to the New York Times, the answer is yes.

They have a new theory, and it goes like this: Trump’s high polling numbers are due to the fact that pollsters are focusing on the registered voter matrix, a demographic where he performs exceptionally well.In essence, he’s popular among those who don’t necessarily turn out to vote. On the flip side, the New York Times reports thatBiden does much better than President Trump among “likely voters”—those who areexpected to actually cast a vote. This is where the real concern lies.

Mr. Biden leads by six points among voters who participated in the 2020 election, while Mr. Trump holds an overwhelming 22-point lead among those who did not vote in 2020. In our estimation, needless to say, 2020 nonvoters are less likely to vote in 2024, and that’s why we show Mr. Biden ahead among likely voters.

Now, since this is coming from the NYT, many of you might shrug it off as more “fake news,” and we wouldn’t blame you, but it’s fair to note that very respectable pollsters on our side, like Richard Baris, have also talked about this being a real issue.

However, thisunderscores just how crucial the Republican “Get Out the Vote” effort is at this moment. If the New York Times’ analysis holds true, we’re looking at a situation that’s both good and bad. There’s a massive pool of non-voters we could potentially mobilize. But if we fail to engage them and make darn sure they vote, Biden could surprisingly gain ground, despite his poor track record and sad mental state. We should never underestimate the power of stupid voters or sketchy mail-in ballots—both could significantly sway the outcome.

That theory aside, the New York Times does see legitimate trouble on the horizon for Biden thanks to the Israel/Palestine situation, especially with young people.

For the first time, Mr. Trump leads President Biden among young voters in a Times/Siena national survey, 49 percent to 43 percent. It’s enough to give him a narrow 46-44 lead among registered voters overall.

Usually, it’s not worth dwelling too much on a subsample from a single poll, but this basic story about young voters is present in nearly every major survey at this point. Our own battleground state surveys in the fall showed something similar, with Mr. Biden ahead by a single point among those 18 to 29. Either figure is a big shift from Mr. Biden’s 21-point lead in our final poll before the midterms or his 10-point lead in our last national poll in July.

And there’s a plausible explanation for the shift in recent months: Israel. These young voters are the ones who are most likely to dump Joe for President.

Trump, according to the NYT piece:

You might think that the young voters with these progressive or even left-wing views would be among the most likely to stick with Mr. Biden. At least for now, that’s not the case. The young Biden ’20 voters with anti-Israel views are the likeliest to report switching to Mr. Trump.

Overall, Mr. Trump is winning 21 percent of young Biden ’20 voters who sympathize more with Palestinians than Israel, while winning 12 percent of other young Biden ’20 voters. In an even more striking sign of defections among his own supporters, Mr. Biden holds just a 64-24 lead among the young Biden ’20 voters who say Israel is intentionally killing civilians, compared with an 84-8 lead among the Biden ’20 voters who don’t think Israel is intentionally killing civilians.

It’s possible that the kinds of young voters opposed to Israel already opposed Mr. Biden back before the war. That can’t be ruled out. But it’s still evidence that opposition to the war itself is probably contributing to Mr. Biden’s unusual weakness among young voters.

The bottom line is this: the New York Times’ theory on likely voters versus registered voters is noteworthy, but President Trump is still in a much stronger position than Biden. If Trump supporters concentrate on mobilizing the vote and converting non-voters into active voters, President Trump could experience a significant surge in support. This could pave the way for a substantial victory, in spite of the left’s ballot-harvesting schemes.

All Ukrainians must fight – security chief

The era when some could turn a blind eye to the conflict is over, Aleksey Danilov has said, as the country struggles to find fresh recruits

Every Ukrainian citizen, and not only the members of the military, must serve their country during its conflict with Russia, Aleksey Danilov, the Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, has said.

In an interview with local media on Thursday, the security chief signaled that the era when some Ukrainians could turn a blind eye to the fighting was over. “This kind of calm, when… it was believed that the war was purely a matter for the military, and the rest of the country could live its own life… has passed, it must end, it doesn’t work that way,” he insisted.

“Everyone should take part in this war, and not selectively: while someone is fighting, others are throwing chips in the casino. This is not fair,” the official said.

At the same time, Danilov noted that=Kiev’s planned mobilization drive would not last only one day or one month, but that the whole process could take at least a year.

His comments come after Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky revealed earlier this week that the military had proposed calling up an additional 450-500 thousand people, andthat the government wanted to allocate an additional 500 billion hryvnias ($13.3 billion) to the effort. He also stressed that Ukrainian authorities must prioritize “justice” when replenishing the military’s ranks.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said all Ukrainian men who had left the country since start of the conflict would be invited to report to recruitment centers, warning that those who fail to comply could face sanctions. However, Kirill Budanov, the chief of Ukrainian intelligence, said last week thatforcing people without motivation into service would not make the army stronger.

Ukraine announced a general mobilization shortly after the start of the conflict with Russia in February 2022, barring most men aged between 18 and 60 from leaving the country. The campaign, however, has been marred by widespread draft dodging and corruption.

Ukrainian officials have repeatedly signaled plans to recruit more soldiers amid Kiev’s faltering counteroffensive which has been underway since early summer but failed to gain any substantial ground. Moscow has described Ukraine’s losses during the push as catastrophic, estimating them at about 160,000 casualties.

The Weissmann/Mueller report contains claims that Russia hacked the DNC servers as the central element to the Russia interference narrative in the U.S. election. This DNC hack claim is the fulcrum issue structurally underpinning the Russian election interference narrative pushed by the Weissmann and Muller Special Counsel. However, this essential claim is directly disputed by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, as outlined during a Dana Rohrabacher interview and by Julian Assange’s own on-the-record statements.

Assange was arrested at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London immediately after the Weissmann/Muller report was released to Bill Barr. Despite investigating the background of the Trump-Russia nonsense, John Durham never touched the DNC hacking claim – the core of the Mueller report. Why? Because Durham knew the U.S. Government threw a bag over Assange to protect the fraudulent Trump-Russia and Russian interference claims.

Again, this reality speaks to the corruption within the John Durham investigation. Durham was protecting Weissmann, Mueller and the core of their justification for a 2-year investigation. Durham knows why Assange was arrested. Durham stayed away from it, intentionally.

The Russians HAD TO have made efforts to interfere in the election, or else the factual basis for the surveillance operation against candidate Donald Trump is naked to the world.

That’s why so much DOJ, FBI and Mueller special counsel energy was exhausted framing the predicate.

“Seventeen intelligence agencies,” the December 29th Joint Analysis Report, the expulsion of the Russian diplomats which was an outcropping of the JAR, the rushed January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, shoving microphones in everyone’s faces and demanding they answer if they believed Russia interfered – all of it, and I do mean every bit of it, is predicated on an absolute DC need to establish that Russia Attempted to Interfere in the 2016 election.

It outlines nothing more than vague and disingenuous typical hacking activity that is no more substantive than any other hacking report on any other foreign actor. The Supreme Court Sees the Politics – Jack Smith Denied Request to Leapfrog Appeals Court

As we stated yesterday, following the Smith request, the Trump attorney response, and the Smith re-response, the transparency of the special counsel motive is obvious. For the Supreme Court to accept the request of Smith, would be for the Supreme Court to pretend the political motive was unknown.

The Supreme Court did not pretend and was curt in their retort: “The petition for a writ of certiorari before judgment is denied.”

Special Counsel Jack Smith argued in his petition to the court, the speedy resolution of Trump’s claim of presidential immunity is of an urgent national interest. The motive was/is a transparent speedy timeline effort to influence the 2024 GOP presidential primary race. The court, heck, the entire world can see it.

Arguments on the presidential immunity issue, within the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, are set for January 9, 2024. The decision of the 3-judge panel will come thereafter. Depending on the outcome, Donald Trump can then ask for a full panel appellate court review. If the Circuit Court appeal results in a non-favorable outcome, the next step is the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the DC trial of Donald Trump is frozen awaiting a determination on the original issue of presidential immunity.
