Proverbs 30:18-19

King James Version

18 There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:

19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

The Rape of the Sabine Women

Incident in Roman mythology

The Rape of the Sabine Women (Latin: Sabฤซnae raptaeClassical Latin:[saหˆbiห.naeหˆrap.tae]), also known as the Abduction of the Sabine Women or the Kidnapping of the Sabine Women, was an incident in Roman mythology in which the men of Rome committed a mass abduction of young women from the other cities in the region. It has been a frequent subject of painters and sculptors, particularly during the Renaissance and post-Renaissance eras.

The word "rape" (cognate with rapto in Portuguese and other Romance languages, meaning "kidnap") is the conventional translation of the Latin wordraptioused in the ancient accounts of the incident. Modern scholars tend to interpret the word as "abduction" or "kidnapping" as opposed to a sexual assault, and in some languages the usual name for the incident has different implications.
