When overloaded with information we use heuristic reasoning, which is prone to bid and vulnerable to blind spots. This psychology is weaponized against us. A barrage of micro traumas and exasperating events with no obvious solution and difficult to believe it's happening, we tribe up and make quick good guy bad guy judgements. Life is so much more complex. The kid are not learning what we all used to know as common sense. Having different opinions is not a threat. Free speech is good. Ad hominem is weak.
