Greg Speedgreg newer headshot

Greg Speed is the president of America Votes. He has led AV, as president, and previously as executive director, since late 2007. Speed is a leading progressive campaign strategist with a broad experience in politics, having worked for advocacy organizations, the Democratic Party and elected officials.

Leading one of the progressive community’s most vital organizations, America Votes, Speed has worked to create a coalition of more than 400 national and state partners working in coordination to build progressive power across the country. With operations in more than 20 states, America Votes has served as the coordination hub of the progressive community for more than a decade, leading efforts to advance policies, win elections and advance every American’s right to vote.

Speed’s unique range of experiences from the progressive movement to Capitol Hill to party committees gives him an expertise to speak to the inter-workings of independent expenditure organizations and the progressive community. He served as communications director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in the 2004 election cycle, press secretary for Congressman Martin Frost during his tenure as Democratic caucus chair and communications director for IMPAC 2000, the national Democratic redistricting project in 2001-2002.

Speed serves on the boards of Priorities USA, Progress Now and the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center. A foremost progressive expert on the redistricting process, Speed has led AV and its allies in a multi-tiered strategy nationally and in key states to impact redistricting, and currently serves on the board of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

Speed was raised in “Chicagoland” and is a proud alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He and his wife, Lona Valmoro, reside on Capitol Hill with their two children.

America Votes is pleased to invite you to a fully in-person State Summit in Washington, D.C. for 2024.

HOW DO I GET TO THE AMERICA VOTES STATE SUMMIT 2024?

IS THERE A REFUND POLICY FOR THE AMERICA VOTES STATE SUMMIT 2024?

Yes. Refund requests will be considered through March 26, 2024. All refunds will be processed after the conference.

WHAT ARE THE CONFERENCE’S COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AND REQUIREMENTS?

America Votes is continuing to follow local and CDC public health guidelines. Before registering to attend State Summit 2024, please consider the following COVID-19 guidelines for all attendees:

America Votes strongly encourages all guests to be up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, including a COVID-19 vaccine primary series and the most recent booster dose recommended by the CDC. Please bring your vaccine card (or a photo of your vaccine card) showing proof of your COVID-19 vaccine primary series and at least one booster shot, if eligible, to the State Summit check-in table for verification.

Please stay home regardless of vaccination status if:

You are feeling ill or have any symptoms of illness.

You have tested positive for COVID-19 within 5 days of the event.

You have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 5 days prior to the event.

Refunds for cancellations due to illness will be handled on a case by case basis.
