Downing Street 'bans Donald Trump from meeting Nigel Farage' during visit to Britain next week

Downing Street has blocked any chance forDonald Trump to meet Nigel Farage when he visits Britain next week, it was claimed today.

Whitehall sources said officials have been ordered not to make space for the President to meet the ex-Ukip leader during talks on the visit schedule.

Theresa May has repeatedly refused to make use of Mr Farage's friendship with Mr Trump. The pair campaigned together in the 2016 US elections.

Mr Farage told MailOnline it was a 'wasted opportunity' to 'build bridges between the administrations'.

The President will visit Britain next week for the first time since his election and officials are still finalising the details.

Mr Trump's programme is expected to include meeting the Queen, talks with the Prime Minister and golf at his courses in Scotland.

Mr Farage said: 'Clearly they (Downing Street) are very keen that I don't meet the President or his entourage when they are over.

What will happen on Trump's visit?

Donald Trump is expected to arrive late next Thursday evening, July 12, but his first full day will be on Friday, July 13.

The entire visit is thought to last three days.

While the trip is a working visit, it will be a simpler affair as Trump has not received an invitation from the Queen on the advice of the government. In addition to this, as it is not a state visit, the President will have to cover his own costs.

Windsor Castle is set to be closed to the public on July 13, suggesting that this is when Trump will meet the Queen, but details have not been confirmed.

The Coldstream Guards, the oldest regiment in the British Army, are also rumoured to honour the Trumps on their arrival but Buckingham Palace has not confirmed the arrangements.
