The Book of Ephesians stands out as the only book of the biblical canon whose congregants are spoken to specifically by our Risen Lord Jesus Christ in the Book of Revelation.

In Revelation chapter 2, verses 4 and part of 5, Jesus Christ says:

“But I have [this] against you, that you have left your First Love. Therefore remember where you have fallen, repent and do the deeds you did at first;”

The believers in Ephesus at that time have fallen from their spiritual heights. Jesus called them to repent- change their minds and turn back upwards toward Him and His love towards them!

John, one of Jesus’ apostles while Jesus was on earth, was inspired to write this in 1st John chapter 4, verse 9:

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.”

Also, in verse 19:

“We love, because He first loved us.”

Finally, backing up to verse 8, “…for God is love.”

For far too long we have been pushed to have our focus upon our love for Jesus and our devotion to Him.

Far more important is our focus upon Jesus and His love for us!!
