The much-anticipated Right vs. Left J6 debate is just around the corner, and it’s definitely not one to miss. This is the showdown you’ve been waiting for. January 6th rolls around again, and it’s like a holiday for liberals at the US Capitol—their own version of “Christmas.” It’s the anniversary of when some righteously frustrated Trump supporters got caught up in what’s been dubbed a “Fedsurrection,” which was likely an undercover FBI operation designed to paint a picture of grandmas and grandpas, armed with nothing more than water bottles and fanny packs, as plotting to overthrow the entire United States government.

In reality, a lot of these grandparents were actually waved into the Capitol by the police, and they wandered around more like tourists than anything else.

Every year on January 6th, the left revisits cherry-picked moments to reinforce their narrative about the so-called “danger” posed by Trump supporters. On July 29, a United plane was nearly totaled after a hard landing.Who was flying that aircraft?

Was the co-pilot a former flight attendant who was FIRED and then rehired through United’s DEI programdespite being on a list to not return to United?

Am I correct that this individual failed multiple trainings including simulator training?

Am I also correct that United has covered up this DEI disaster and many others?

Was the #2 at the Denver hiring center also onboarded through DEI? Did she or did she not change fail grades for DEI hires because “it makes the numbers look bad”?

Neptune and Uranus seen in true colours for first time

Our ideas of the colours of the planets Neptune and Uranus have been wrong, research led by UK astronomers reveals.

Images from a space mission in the 1980s showed Neptune to be a rich blue and Uranus green.But a study has discovered that the two ice giant planets are both similar shades of greenish blue.

It has emerged that the earlier images of Neptune had been enhanced to show details of the planet's atmosphere, which altered its true colour. "They did something that I think everyone on Instagram will have done at some time in their life, they tweaked the colours," Prof Catherine Heymans, Astronomer Royal for Scotland and a University of Edinburgh astrophysics professor, told BBC Radio 4's Today.

"They accentuated the blue just to reveal the features that you can see in Neptune's atmosphere, and that's why the image looks very blue, but in reality, Neptune is actually pretty similar to Uranus."

The earlier images were captured by Nasa's Voyager spacecraft in the 1980s

Astronomers have long known that most modern images of the two planets do not accurately reflect their true colours, according to Prof Patrick Irwin from the University of Oxford, who led the research. "Even though the artificially saturated colour was known at the time amongst planetary scientists - and the images were released with captions explaining it - that distinction had become lost over time."

Dr Robert Massey, deputy director of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS), explained that enhancing images was normal procedure in astronomical research. You would be foolish to look at an astronomy image and not think it was enhanced. They have to be, because that is how they are processed in order to see things."It's not that there was any conspiracy to keep it from the public!"(That’s how you know it was a conspiracy! KEK)

Prof Irwin and his team processed the original data to produce what is claimed to be the most accurate representation yet of the colour of both Neptune and Uranus. The initial misconception arose because images captured of both planets by Nasa's Voyager 2 spacecraft mission recorded its images in three separate colours.

True colours

The images were recombined to create the composite colour images, which were not always accurately balanced. The contrast was also strongly enhanced to bring out details in the clouds, bands and winds of the planets. In the case of Neptune, both processes made it bluer than it really was. In the recent study, the researchers used data from the Hubble Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph and the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer on the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope.

In both instruments, each pixel is a continuous spectrum of colours which enables the researchers to produce the true colours of both planets. The analysis revealed that Uranus and Neptune are a similar shade of greenish blue, although researchers found a slight difference. Neptune has a slight hint of additional blue, which the model reveals to be because of a thinner haze layer on that planet.

The study also showed that Uranus appears a little greener during its summer and winter, when one of its poles is pointed towards the Sun. But during spring and autumn, when the Sun is over the equator, it has a bluer tinge. Follow Pallab on X (formerly known as Twitter)

Was Putin's Top General Gerasimov Killed in Crimea Attack? What We Know

Rumors are circulating that Russia's top general, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, was killed in an attack on annexed Crimea by Ukrainian forces on Thursday.

Social media users began questioning the whereabouts of the Russian general after Ukraine said it had struck a Russian military command post near Sevastopol and a military unit near the city of Yevpatoria, in separate strikes on the Black Sea peninsula, which was annexed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2014. (Ukraine starts these rumors constantly)

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk thanked the pilots and "everyone who planned the operation for perfect combat work" in a message on Telegram. Russia said its air defenses shot down 10 guided missiles over Crimea, and that it had prevented an attempt by Ukraine's forces to carry out a "terrorist attack." Russia's defense ministry said it also intercepted 36 Ukrainian drones over the peninsula.

"Gerasimov died?" wrote WarVehicleTracker. The message in the image read: "According to preliminary data, Valrey Gerasimov, who was in a command post near Sevastopol at the time of the attack, was killed in the attack on Crimea." WarVehicleTracker's post has been viewed more than 60,000 times at the time of writing, and prompted hundreds of social media users to question whether Gerasimov had been killed in Crimea.

A Newsweek search found that the message purportedly published by the"Ordinary Tsarism" channel didn't exist at the time of writing. It isn't clear if the message was deleted, or if it was fabricated by social media users.

Newsweek has emailed the author behind the channel for further clarification.

The X user WarVehicleTracker told Newsweek they first saw the image and message on social platform Discord.

Questions asked by X users as rumors swirled include: "Is Gerasimov dead?"; "What happened to Gerasimov?"; "Did they off Gerasimov?"; "Gerasimov died?"; "Did Ukraine really kill Gerasimov?"; and "Gerasimov, where are you?".

Another added: "Not holding my breath but if Gerasimov got iced in the Crimea swarm, that would be… eventful." Gerasimov's Wikipedia page was also temporarily edited to state that he had died on January 4, the day of the Crimea attack.

There is no concrete evidence to suggest that Gerasimov has been killed, nor is there evidence that Gerasimov was in Crimea at the time of the attack. The Kremlin hasn't commented on the rumors, and Newsweek has contacted Russia's Defense Ministry via email for comment. The New York Times reported in December 2022 that Ukrainian authorities attempted to assassinate Gerasimov as he visited the front lines in Ukraine.

Ukraine targets Crimea with drones and missiles

A wave of UAVs followed a failed ‘Storm Shadow’ strike

Three dozen Ukrainian drones have been shot down while attempting to strike Crimea in an overnight raid on Friday, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The attack came just hours after an attempted missile strike on Sevastopol, in which Kiev’s forces used ten projectiles, including Western-supplied “Storm Shadows.”

“An attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with unmanned aerial vehicles was stopped on January 5,” the ministry said in a bulletin.“Air defense systems on duty destroyed and intercepted 36 Ukrainian UAVsover the territory of the Republic of Crimea and one UAV over the territory of Krasnodar Region,” the military added.

According to local media, none of the Storm Shadow missiles reached their intended targets. Debris from the destroyed projectiles caused some property damage, however, and injured one civilian.

One downed missile fell in a residential area near Sevastopol State University (SevGU) but did not explode. The area has been cordoned off to allow explosive ordnance disposal teams to handle the situation.

Ukrainian artillery also targeted the Russian city of Belgorod at around the same time as the drone attack. While a total of ten rockets were intercepted, at least one struck a parking lot in a residential area, shattering windows and damaging a number of cars. Two civilians were reported injured.

Belgorod has been subjected to Ukrainian shelling for seven consecutive days since before New Year. On Saturday, rockets with cluster warheads struck the town square, killing 25 civilians – including children – and wounding 100 more. Moscow has accused the US and the UK of helping plan the strike.

Five NATO reconnaissance planes and a drone had surveyed Crimea on Wednesday, while an American RC-135W spy plane was patrolling the Black Sea during the missile strike on Thursday, according to the Russian think-tank Rybar.
