Wondering if this is connected to anything?

The Rhodes Scholarship is an international postgraduate award to study at Oxford, named after Anglo-South African mining magnate/founder of De Beers diamond company and politician Cecil John Rhodes.

He is also known as the architect of Apartheid in South Africa and as a racist. His goal for the scholarship was to promote civic-minded leadership among young colonists to lead: for the furtherance of the British Empire, for bringing of the whole uncivilized world under British rule, for the recovery of the United States, and for making the Anglo-Saxon race but one empire.

This scholarship led the way to others including the Co-ed Marshall Scholarship and Rhodes' Anglo-Supremacist Beliefs and Legacy of Colonialism (white supremacy). What's more interesting are some of the Rhodes Scholars:

1966 Wesley Clark - US Army General, Supreme Allied Commander, NATO

1968 Bill Clinton - Impeached President

1976 Ashton Carter - US Secretary of Defense

1984 George Stephanopoulos - worked for Clinton's 1992 campaign, ABC moderator

1992 Cory Booker - US Senator N.J.

1992 Bobby Jindal - Gov. Louisiana, US Congressman

1995 Rachel Maddow - MSNBC, social activist

2004 Jared Cohen - Jigsaw, CFR, HRC
