Speaker Johnson Announces $1.66 Trillion Bipartisan Package To Avert Shutdown

House Speaker Mike Johnson told colleagues on Sunday that Congressional negotiators have reached a topline spending figure to avert a federal government shutdown on Jan. 19 for some government agencies, and Feb. 2 for others. According to a Sunday "Dear Colleague" letter, the topline deal - which mostly adheres to a deal reached between the White House and former speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), limits discretionary spending to $1.66 trillion overall. It also secures $16 billion in additional spending cuts vs. the McCarthy deal, and is around $30 billion less than what Senate Democrats wanted.

"This represents the most favorable budget agreement Republicans have achieved in over a decade," wrote Johnson, adding "As has been widely reported, a list of extra-statutory adjustments was agreed upon by negotiators last summer. The agreement today achieves key modifications to the June framework that will secure more than $16 billion in additional spending cuts to offset the discretionary spending levels."

Breaking it down, the deal sets aside $886.3 billion for defense spending, $772.7 billion in domestic discretionary spending, and rescinds $6.1 billion in coronavirus emergency spending authority. The deal also accelerates $20 billion in cuts from the $80 billion IRS funding allocated under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

"The bipartisan funding framework congressional leaders have reached moves us one step closer to preventing a needless government shutdown and protecting important national priorities," President Biden's staff said in a statement assigned to the 81-year-old. "It reflects the funding levels that I negotiated with both parties and signed into law last spring. It rejects deep cuts to programs hard-working families count on, and provides a path to passing full-year funding bills that deliver for the American people and are free of any extreme policies."

House Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries issued a statement in support of the new agreement.

Atlanta TSA Manager Arrested at Her Own Airport For Falsifying Documents

Shortly after Christmas, an Atlanta TSA manager was arrested at her airport by Customs and Border Protection for allegedly falsifying documents.

Maxine McManaman, who has been a TSA employee for 21 years, was detained by Customs and Border Protection upon returning to Atlanta from Jamaica for falsifying documents late last month.

Fox 5 Atlanta reported:

ATLANTA – A few days after Christmas, a high-ranking TSA official stepped off an international flight at the same airport where she works, only to be detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

While it may sound like high-level intrigue, the FOX 5 I-Team has learned that the allegations against Maxine McManaman boil down to a nasty family squabble. For years, McManaman has helped keep the skies safe, serving as Assistant Federal Security Director at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. She has served with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration for 21 years, almost since the TSA’s inception after 9/11.

After she got back from her vacation in Jamaica on December 28th, she was arrested and sent to Clayton County Jail in Georgia.

AOC has an answer to illegals

Another Enlightened Proposal by the Democrat Thought Leader… AOC Wants to Stop Illegal Immigration By Making Everybody Legal

At first, we thought this a parody account or a cheap AI imitation. …Nope.

AOC actually said this.

Alexandria (Sandy) Ocasio-Cortez: One of the biggest issues that we have when it comes to immigration is the fact that we have an undocumented population. Now, you can fix that by trying to build a wall, or you can fix that by trying to document people and create a path to citizenship. And we’ll have folks that might say, look at these systems, that our shelter system has weight and things like that. But one of the reasons that our public systems experience weight is because people don’t have a documented and reliable path to work and sustain themselves, just like all of our ancestors did and our grandparents and great grandparents.

She is such a flake.

Who needs borders anyway? What’s another trillion illegal immigrants? It sounds good to Sandy!

What we thought we knew about T. rex was wrong, researchers say in new study

An old dinosaur debate gained new traction after a new study’s findings suggesting that miniature versions of the famed Tyrannosaurus rex may actually be a distinct species.

Researchers from the University of Bath and University of Chicago took a new look at fossils of small T. rexes and concluded that what was once thought to be young versions of the well-known tyrannosaurs, is more likely its own similar, but separate species.

The study, which was published in the journal of Fossil Studies, researched the growth rings of young T. rex fossils and found evidence that bone growth rates were slowing and indicated that the Nanotyrannus versions of the famous dinosaurs were likely almost full size.

“If they were young T. rex they should be growing like crazy, putting on hundreds of kilograms a year, but we’re not seeing that,” Dr. Nick Longrich, co-author of the study, said in a report published by New Atlas. “We tried modeling the data in a lot of different ways and we kept getting low growth rates.”

The results contradict a 2020 study by researchers at Oklahoma State University, who concluded that at the time of the death, the small T. rexes were likely only 13 to 15 years old and had not yet reached their full growth potential.
