As the New Year unfolds—an election year, at that—we can safely predict it will be filled with revelations and drama, even when it will surely contain some elements of déjà vu. Taking center stage on the cartoonist Barry Blitt’s image for the January 15, 2024, issue is one of the most predictable political actors, the former President and presumptive Republican candidate Donald Trump, whose rhetoric is, somehow, still getting ever more brazen and shrill. “I look forward to depicting the pageantry, solemnity, and awe of the upcoming Presidential election,” Blitt says.
