I have a White Squall theory. JFK's boat bell had the "where we go one, we go all" slogan. During the movie, parts of a Kennedy speech were played in the background, and there were references to the space race and the Cuban missile crisis. The captain of the Albatross was Christopher Sheldon. After the boat went down he was recruited by Sargent Shriver to be the first Peace Corp. envoy to South America. see https:// www.nytimes.com/1996/03/10/nyregion/the-day-the-albatross-went-down.html

Sargent Shriver was JFK's brother in law, Maria Shriver's father, and the terminator's father in law. He founded the Peace Corp. He was also a founding member of the America First Committee which sought to keep the U.S. out of WWII. Shriver volunteered for and served in the Navy. He was also part of the scroll and key society at Yale and was appointed to the Rockefeller University Council.

Also White Squall was directed by Ridley Scott, a director known for having numerous occult references in his movies. These people love to put references to their secrets in their movies.

Not sure what that all means but I think there is something there. Perhaps pointing to the Peace Corp's involvement?
