FDA Launches Fresh Bid To Toss Out High-Profile Ivermectin Case

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking to persuade a federal court to dismiss a lawsuit challenging its repeated advisories against using ivermectin to treat COVID-19.

The FDA in asealed motionasked the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas to dismiss the suit, which was brought by three doctors who allege the FDA’s warnings were illegal.

The late 2023 motion was sealed because exhibits the government cited “include confidential information” from a separate legal proceeding, according to a government brief.

Government lawyers said they would file redacted versions of the motion for public perusal but still have not done so.

Attorneys for the doctors said on Jan. 12 that the court should reject the government’s fresh bid to throw out the case.

“The FDA exceeded its authority by repeatedly issuing public directives not to use ivermectin for COVID-19, even though the drug remains fully approved for human use,” they wrote.

One of the directives said: “You are not a horse. Stop it with the #Ivermectin. It’s not authorized for treating #COVID.”

The government motion came after an appeals court found the FDA likely overstepped its authority with the warnings.

“FDA can inform, but it has identified no authority allowing it to recommend consumers ’stop' taking medicine,” U.S. Circuit Judge Don Willett, an appointee of former President Donald Trump, wrote in the ruling.

The appeals court remanded the case back to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Brown, who said in 2022 that the doctors failed to prove their allegations.

The FDA in the sealed motion asked Judge Brown, another appointee of President Trump, to dismiss the case.

One fell off the boat in rough seas was the original story the other dived in to save him - now the clowns are getting some narrative mileage out of it.

Missing US SEALs were chasing Iranian weapons – media

Pentagon officials have reportedly revealed that the two sailors were trying to intercept a shipment to Yemen’s Houthi rebels

Two US Navy SEALs were reportedly searching for a shipment of Iranian weapons to Yemen’s Houthi rebels when they went missing off the coast of Somalia late last week.

The two were raiding a small sailboat on Thursday night when one of them fell into the rough seas, NBC News reported on Monday, citing unidentified Pentagon officials. The other SEAL jumped into the water to rescue his partner, and both “disappeared into the darkness,” according to the report, which Fox News and the Associated Press confirmed.

The incident occurred as the SEALs were trying to board a small boat, called a dhow, in the Gulf of Aden. Four days of search and rescue missions have failed to locate them.

The disappearance comes amid rising tensions between the US and Iranian-backed militias in the region as Israel’s war with Hamas drags on. Houthi rocket and drone attacks in the Red Sea have disrupted shipping in the region, prompting a US-led international operation to provide safe passage for oil tankers and cargo ships.

The missing special operations sailors, who were attached to the Bahrain-based US Fifth Fleet, weren’t part of “Operation Prosperity Guardian,” NBC said. Rather, they were among the forces who have conducted missions in recent years to intercept weapons shipments to the Houthis.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday that the two unidentified SEALs had gone missing while conducting operations off the coast of Somalia. CENTCOM declined to release further details on the sailors and their mission, citing “operational security” and “respect for the families affected.”

The Houthis have launched dozens of attacks in the Red Sea since the Israel-Hamas war began in October, prompting major transport firms to avoid a passage that normally accounts for 15% of the world’s commercial shipping traffic. The rebels responded to a recent round of Western airstrikes on Monday, hitting a US-owned container ship with a missile.

Thousands of tractors flood Berlin’s streets in massive farmer protest (VIDEO)

More than 8,500 people and some 6,000 vehicles participated in a major rally in the German capital, police said

Thousands of tractors clogged the streets of Berlin on Monday as German farmers staged a major rally to protest against agricultural policy changes planned by Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Cabinet. The government had earlier announced a reduction of tax breaks for the sector as well as plans to slash diesel subsidies.

Photos and videos published on social media showed hundreds of pieces of agricultural equipment moving through Berlin’s streets in tight columns or standing at the side of the roads. Farmers moved through the city with flashing lights and sirens on.

Some vehicles displayed banners and placards reading “Break the Green Wave! Stop the Traffic Light Coalition!”, referring to the term commonly used to describe Germany’s current government, made up of the Social Democrats, Free Democrats and the Greens. Other vehicles displayed slogans like “No farmers, no food, no future!”

Some roads in central Berlin were completely blocked by the protesting farmers, with tractors impeding movement in every vehicle lane.
