Two U.S. Navy SEALs are missing after conducting a nighttime boarding mission???
I have been thinking about this most of the day and if you go to 16:21 timestamp of this video, it is stated that there is a 70% chance of recovery for a man overboard in the day time and only 20% at night and that is when someone is right overboard not far from their base ship. We need to rethink this. Searching by visual as stated is error prone due to visual impairments that waves, breaks, and swells can cause. Therefor, I am asking the US Navy to consider creating a device that is waterproof that sailors can velcro around their ankle as to not impede on their duties yet have a device that can be used that gives off some type of directed radiation with possible GPS that can hone in on their base ship. All our vessels can detect radiation by our powerful radars and we should be thinking of utilizing those powerful systems to pinpoint their locations instead of relying on visuals. We should be working on systems that make man over boards 99% recoverable. Any suggestions?
Even better yet, why not implement this type of device into Navy helmets? Helmets can be shielded from radiation, are the highest point when someone is in the water, and everyone on deck already wears them. Why not both for fault tolerance?
