Ukraine's leaders have only themselves to blame – Putin

Kiev bears full responsibility for the situation in which it finds itself, the Russian president said

Ukraine’s much-touted counteroffensive has now “completely failed” and its very statehood could soon suffer an irreparable blow, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the ‘Small Motherland – the Strength of Russia’ forum in Moscow on Tuesday.

Putin noted that the head of Ukraine’s negotiation team, which participated in peace talks with Russia in the early months of the conflict, had recently admitted that Kiev was at one point ready to reach an agreement with Moscow. However, after a visit by then-British prime minister Boris Johnson, the Ukrainian authorities were convinced to stop pursuing a deal with Russia and continue fighting.

“Are they not idiots?” Putin asked, adding that if Ukraine had simply ignored Johnson, then the fighting could be long over by now. “This just proves yet again that they are not independent people,” the Russian leader said.

Putin proceeded to suggest that Kiev’s latest strikes on Russian civilians were an attempt to distract its own people and its Western sponsors from the “complete and absolute failure of their so-called counteroffensive,” which had been intended to push Russian forces back to Ukraine’s 1991 borders.

The president said Kiev’s offensive had not only catastrophically failed, but all the initiative on the battlefield had also ended up with the Russian forces.

“If things carry on this way, Ukrainian statehood could be dealt an irreparable and very serious blow,” Putin warned, arguing that the leadership in Kiev is fully responsible for the situation, which is a direct consequence of their policies and decisions.

Putin’s statement comes as Kiev’s Western backers are reportedly growing increasingly concerned that it cannot inflict a military defeat on Russia, and have been nudging Ukraine to seek a diplomatic solution.

According to Russian estimates, around 400,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed or wounded during the conflict, including 125,000 in the course of Kiev’s counteroffensive between early June and late November.

What a scary name that even is, right. And I don’t know what the alternative is right now.

I have no solution on that, but I think one day it will come the moment of the code of conduct in these places, because journals, journalists, if you spread crazy news and insults, and if a journalist thinks it can be amended, why social medias that have such big power? We still can because it’s new. But I think there will be a sociological reflection on how information is brought there. Zelensky Courts JPMorgan, Bank of America & Bridgewater CEOs At Davos, Urges More Money From West

As expected, anything related to Ukraine presented at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos has been focused on more weaponry and seeking more vows of integration among Western allies.

"Ukrainians need predictable financing throughout 2024 and beyond," European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen told World Economic Forum participants. "They need a sufficient and sustained supply of weapons to defend Ukraine and regain its rightful territory."

As for President Zelensky, in addressing world leaders at the forum he emphasized that the West needs to help Ukraine achieve air superiority if his forces are to have a chance to emerge victorious against Russia.

"We must gain air superiority for Ukraine. Just as we gained superiority in the Black Sea, we can do it. This will allow progress on the ground … Partners know what is needed and in what quantity,” the Ukrainian leader said.

"After 2014, there were attempts to freeze the war in Donbas. There were very influential guarantors, the chancellor of Germany, the president of France. But Putin is a predator who is not satisfied with frozen products," Zelensky continued in his address at Davos.

At the summit, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken promised that Washington will keep up its support for Ukraine, however while keeping things vague - following Biden's proposed foreign defense budget request being reject by GOP members in Congress; and NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg suggested Ukraine is moving closer to entry into the alliance.

Stoltenberg acknowledged a "serious battlefield situation" but also said there is "cause for optimism" after nearly two years of fighting, and NATO's constant support.

Conversely, he said that "Russia has lost what they wanted to achieve with the war, and that was to control Ukraine"; Ukrainians are now firmly oriented to the West, aspiring for membership in NATO and the European Union. The Secretary General also stressed that “support for Ukraine is not charity; it’s an investment in our own security”.

Pointing to the increasingly global nature of security, Mr Stoltenberg noted that close NATO partners Japan and South Korea are also concerned about Russia’s war against Ukraine, as a victory for President Putin would increase the likelihood of Beijing using force elsewhere.

But realistically, the prospect of Ukraine gaining full NATO membership would be a process of years, and would likely trigger WW3 with Russia–so to some degree this is all empty posturing.

Nor is there much of a difference between the havoc wreaked on innocent lives by uncaring, unfeeling, selfish, irresponsible, parasitic criminals and elected officials who lie to their constituents, trade political favors for campaign contributions, turn a blind eye to the wishes of the electorate, cheat taxpayers out of hard-earned dollars, favor the corporate elite, entrench the military industrial complex, and spare little thought for the impact their thoughtless actions and hastily passed legislation might have on defenseless citizens.

Poland’s New, Gay Deputy Justice Minister Announces Laws Banning ‘Hate Speech’ Against Gays and Transgenders.

Poland’s new deputy justice minister, a gay activist, has announced new laws outlawing “hate speech” on the basis of sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, and disability. Krzysztof Śmiszek says the “hate speech” regulations will be finalized by the end of February. The populist Konfederacja (Confederation) party has expressed grave misgivings about the planned speech restrictions, which were included in the coalition agreement between the three globalist political alliances that have combined to govern Poland.

“In practice, this means nothing more than criminal prosecution for expressing views that are inconsistent with a specific ideology that is close to the new coalition,” warned Konfederacja politician Konrad Berkowicz. “This is obvious censorship, an obvious attack on freedom of speech and obvious, creeping totalitarianism,” he added. Prime Minister Donald Tusk is moving swiftly to completely undo the legacy of the previous conservative government, which governed Poland from 2015 to late last year. Not only have illegal aliens formerly turned away at the previous government’s border wall been invited to meet the Speaker, but conservatives working for state media have also been fired en masse, and former government ministers have been jailed and expelled from the legislature. The process has been lawless, with the new government ignoring the Constitutional Tribunal, Supreme Court judges it disagrees with, and presidential pardons to implement its agenda. Nevertheless, President Joe Biden and his ambassador in Warsaw have signaled their approval of the regime.
