I don't think that's the case. I grew up in the Appalachian mountains. Weird stuff does happen but your free will has nothing to do with it. The stuff just happens regardless. Those old mountains have no care for your free will. When shit gets weird you just sit and breathe. In and out. It's kinda freaky thinking about it now since I'm a city boy with a 'real job' and so on now. You just don't acknowledge it unless you hear something really loud and close, then you run, because it could be a predator. And hope it's not a mountain lion lol. Not saying this is definitely what happened, mind, but this used to happen to me all the time. When I was younger I used to set an alarm to get someone up for work, then go back to bed. Sometimes I would have an entire conversation with them and have no memory of it whatsoever.

I believe I had an experience with them or something like it about 20 years ago. Me and two friends were fishing for catfish and it was around 2am. Off way in the woods we heard “help me” in a female voice. It only did it once, and there was no fear or urgency in the voice. Just the words with no emotion. We just kinda looked at each other to see if we all heard it. There was a pretty large lake tributary separating us from the voice so there wasn’t much we could have done, but with the way it sounded we weren’t really determined to go check it out.

I used to work in a hospital as transport and lab technician. Saw a lot of elderly people in end of life situations who couldn't consent be forced to live in hazy, painful, and uncomfortable situations by their family members who rejected medical advice believing they could be saved.

It takes away resources from people who can be saved, and it puts the patients life span over quality of life often extending their life only a few days and those days are awful.

I understand why we have regulations about removal of care, but I would often think "we need to send these people to die in their own bed at home, not here" obviously that's extremely controversial, and the ethics of it are dubious, but I hate seeing it. Ironically, I see it now more as a mortician. Extended death cadavers often have already have extensive necrotic tissue that started before death.
