Zelenskyy invites Trump to Kyiv

You can end the war in 24 hours? Come on then, Ukrainian leader needles Republican front-runner.

Donald Trump has boasted that, if he were president, he could end the war immediately

By Andrew McDonald January 19, 2024 7:38 pm CET

LONDON —Volodymyr Zelenskyy has invited Donald Trump to Kyiv, but on one condition.

The Ukrainian president said the former U.S. president would be welcome to visit him in the capital — as long as Trump is able to stop the war with Russia within 24 hours, as he once promised.

Trump has boasted that, if he were president, he could end the war immediately by insisting Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin agree to a settlement, insisting he has a good relationship with both leaders. Trump, during his political career, has repeatedly gushed over Putin, who launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 that has claimed tens of thousands of lives.

“Yes please, Donald Trump — I invite you to Ukraine, to Kyiv,” Zelenskyy said, in an interview set to be aired Friday evening with U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 News. “If you can stop the war during 24 hours I think it will be enough to come to Kyiv, on any day I am here.”

Zelenskyy added that, if Trump does have a “formula” for ending the war, he wants to know what it is.

Although Ukraine is anxious to cultivate ties with the Republican front-runner and his allies ahead of November’s U.S. presidential election, Zelenskyy has every reason to be a wary of man who has little appetite for continued support of Ukraine’s resistance against Russian invasion.

Indeed, Trump has lavished praise on Putin for being “smart” by occupying “a vast, vast location, a great piece of land with a lot of people” while only taking a relatively minor sanctions hit.

While in the White House, Trump was also impeached by the House of Representatives after it alleged he pressured Zelenskyy to pursue politically motivated investigations that might hurt Joe Biden’s White House bid, just as Kyiv sought more missiles from the United States.

The former president was acquitted by the Senate.

Trump now leads Biden in polling for multiple key battleground states, and MAGA Republicans on Capitol Hill are feuding over efforts to get a new tranche of Ukraine aid through the House of Representatives.

In a speech after his crushing victory in the Republican Iowa caucus this week, Trump also claimed that “Russia would not have attacked” if he were in the White House, as he and Putin “get along very well.”

Speaking in Davos earlier this week at the World Economic Forum, Zelenskyy tried to brush off fears about a plunge in military funding — most of which comes to Ukraine from the U.S. —if Trump returns, arguing that “one man cannot change the whole nation.”

EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans Introduce

Henry Rodgers Chief National Correspondent January 19, 2024 1:26 PM ET

A group of House Republicans, led by Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry, introduced legislation Thursday to defund the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the bill, which is titled the Defund Davos Act. The legislation would specifically block the State Department, USAID, and any other federal agency from providing funding to the (WEF). The U.S. has spent millions on the WEF over the years, something Perry and other GOP lawmakers say needs to end.

“Forcing American Taxpayers to fund annual ski trips for insular, global elitists is absurd – not to mention reprehensible,” Perry told the Caller before introducing the bill. “The World Economic Forum doesn’t deserve one cent of American funding, and it’s past time we defund Davos.”

…………………………………………………………… (Original Signature of Member)

118TH CONGRESS 1ST SESSION

H. R. ll

To prohibit funding for the World Economic Forum.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Mr. PERRY introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on

A BILL

  1. To prohibit funding for the World Economic Forum.

  2. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

  3. SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

  4. This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Defund Davos Act’’.

  5. SEC. 2. PROHIBITION ON FUNDING.

  6. No funds available to the Department of State,

  7. the United States Agency for International Development,

  8. or any other department or agency may be used to

  9. provide funding for the World Economic Forum.

t(DAILY CALLER OBTAINED) — … by Henry Rodgers

“The wealthy WEF globalists should not receive Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars,” Wisconsin Rep. Tom Tiffany, an original cosponsor of the legislation, said in a statement. “The Defund Davos Act would ensure that U.S. tax dollars are not funding the World Economic Forum and their reset on our way of life. I thank Congressman Perry for leading this important effort.”

Perry was also joined by Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, Tennessee Rep. Diana Harshbarger, Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, and Montana Rep. Matt Rosendale as cosponsors.

Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts directly called out the attendees at his WEF panel Thursday, arguing that future Republican administrations would need to outright reject all policies that are cooked up at Davos.

“The very reason I’m here at Davos, is to explain to many people in this room and who are watching, with all due respect – nothing personal – that you are part of the problem,” Roberts explained. “Political elites tell the average people … that the reality is ‘x,’ when in fact, reality is ‘y.'”

Watch JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon at Davos admit Trump was right about key issues:

“I don’t like how Trump said things, but he wasn’t wrong about those critical issues. That’s why they’re voting for him. People should be more respectful of our fellow citizens,” says @JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon. “I think this negative talk about MAGA will hurt Biden’s campaign.” pic.twitter.com/WKnDjBvefO — Squawk Box (@SquawkCNBC) January 17, 2024

Tim Scott to endorse Donald Trump

The South Carolina Republican will give the former president his backing at a rally on Friday night.

Tim Scott's decision to back Trump is a blow to Nikki Haley.

By Alex Isenstadt 01/19/2024 12:37 PM EST

Sen. Tim Scott will endorse Donald Trump at a rally tonight in New Hampshire, a person familiar with the coming event confirmed.

The senator had competed against Trump for the Republican nomination before bowing out amid a failure to gain traction in the polls.

His decision to back Trump is a blow to Nikki Haley, a fellow South Carolina Republican, who is aiming to have a strong showing in New Hampshire’s upcoming primary. It was Haley who appointed Scott to the Senate in 2012 while serving as governor of the Palmetto state.

The New York Times was the first to report the coming Scott endorsement.

Haley responded to the endorsement while on the trail on Friday.

“Interesting that Trump’s lining up with all the Washington insiders when he claimed he wanted to drain the swamp,” she said.“But the fellas are gonna do what the fellas are gonna do.”(She’s racissst!)

(ok, she is going to use the HRC Anti-woman positions, or they are misogynists. It won’t work she talks, walks and acts like a man. Even her insults don’t hurt anyone’s feelings, and she's not black.)

Fani Willis’ Alleged Lover Paid For Plane Tickets In Her Name, Bank Statements Show

Katelynn Richardson Contributor January 19, 2024 2:04 PM ET

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ alleged lover and outside counsel Nathan Wade purchased plane tickets in her name, according to a Friday court filing obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Bank statements contained in a Friday filing by Wade’s wife, Joycelyn Wade, show Wade purchased tickets to Miami and San Francisco in Willis’ name. The statements back up allegations contained in a motion filed last week by one of former President Donald Trump’s co-defendants that Wade used money earned from the “lucrative” contractWillis signed offon to take her on vacations.

The motion alleged “Willis and Wade have traveled personally together to such places asNapa Valley, California, Florida and the Caribbean and Wade has purchased tickets for both of them to travel on both the Norwegian and Royal Caribbean cruise lines.” The statements contained in Friday’s filing also include payments for Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines.

Two $1,387 and $1,284 payments for the Royal Caribbean cruise were made on the same day, Oct. 4, 2022, as payments for the airline ticket to Miami in Willis’ name. The plane tickets to Miami cost $477 each, per the bank statements. The pair of plane tickets to San Francisco purchased on April 27, 2023, cost $817 each, according to the statements

Wade filed to divorce his wife on Nov. 2, 2021, the day after his contract with the District Attorney began. His wife alleged in prior filings that he did not disclose his earnings from the county to her but continued to draw from her bank account.

Wade’s firm has been paid nearly $654,000 from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office since 2022, county data shows.

Joycelyn Wade’s Friday filing was made in response to Willis’ bid to quash a subpoena for her to testify in the couple’s divorce proceedings. Willis accused Joycelyn Wade Thursday in a court filing of seeking to “harass and embarrass” her to obstruct the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

Wade’s wife rebutted Friday by stating Willis’ arguments are “disingenuous,” noting that evidence is clear “Ms. Willis was an intended travel partner ” for at least some trips disclosed in the bank statements attached.

“It is regrettable that Ms. Willis has filed such an inflammatory Motion, which has left Defendant with no other choice than to respond forcefully and with supporting evidence in a case that is very personal in nature,” the filing states.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

((Fani is way out of her leagues with Jocelyn Wade and her attorney, and Fani can't use racism to justify her lying & crying)

EXCLUSIVE: Fulton County Commissioner Requests Fani Willis Produce Info On Alleged ‘Misuse’ Of County Funds

Katelynn Richardson Contributor January 19, 2024 4:28 PM ET1/2

Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis requested Friday that District Attorney Fani Willis disclose information relating to her potential “misuse” of county funds in her decision to appoint her alleged lover, Nathan Wade, as outside counsel in the case against former President Donald Trump.

Bank statements contained in a court filing Friday revealed that Wade purchased two airline tickets in Willis’ name, backing up allegations made in a motion by a Trump co-defendant that she benefited from the “lucrative” contract she awarded Wade when he took her on trips to these locations. Ellis told the Daily Caller News Foundation that “all Fulton county citizens and taxpayers deserve clear and truthful answers” from Willis, who he earlier noted has been “relatively obstinate” in answering questions from commissioners.

He added that it will “ultimately be decided in a court proceeding” whether the information known to date will disqualify Willis from leading Trump’s prosecution, noting that “the average person likely concludes that something isn’t right with all of this.”

Willis was accused of enjoying cruises and vacations that Wade had paid for using county funds garnered from his work as a special prosecutor on Willis’ case against Trump. Wade has earned over $650,000 in legal fees from the county since the start of 2022.

In the letter obtained by the DCNF, Ellis requested Willis provide by Feb. 2 invoices for special prosecutors’ expenses and fees, their contracts with the office, payments from the office, the “professional experience” of each special prosecutor utilized by the office, as well asthe “source of funding for any payments to special prosecutors” from Jan. 1, 2021 until now.

The letter also requests Willis provide information relating to “laws, rules, or regulations” that apply to a district attorney’s selection of a special prosecutor.

“Separate from any potential inquiry by the State of Georgia, this situation requires confirmation of whether County funds provided for the operation of your office and its prosecutorial function were used in an appropriate manner, and whether any payments of County funds to Mr. Wade were converted to your personal gain in the form of subsidized travel or other gifts,” the letter to Willis states.

==Ellis earlier confirmed to the DCNF that Willis did not ask the Fulton County

Board of Commissioners’ permission before hiring Wade, though he noted it “may be a matter of legal interpretation” whether the board’s approval was required. “There was an ask of her about how much money was being spent on the Trump proceedings,” he told the DCNF. “Essentially the answer was you know, well…’Lady Justice isn’t on a budget.'”==

Commissioner Bridget Thorne confirmed to the DCNF that “approval for outside counsel never came through us.” “Our County attorney tells us that she doesn’t believe Fani Willis needed our approval,” she said. The county attorney, Soo Jo, did not respond to three requests for comment to clarify her position. (The Governor's office, the Judicial branch and the Commissioners knew what she was doing was illegal, and now they all claim it's vague the laws on it. They are dodging and covering, because everyone of them had to investigate this when it was announced she was convicting him. They Knew, they just wanted her to prosecute Trump and the Others. It will come out)

Georgia law, GA Code § 15-18-20, states that the district attorney in each circuitmay employ outside counsel “as may be authorized by the governing authority of the county or counties comprising the judicial circuit.”

“There is no requirement that the District Attorney get permission from Fulton County to hire a special prosecutor,” a spokesperson for the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia told the DCNF, citing their Executive Director Pete Skandalakis. “Fulton County’s Code of Ordinances does not apply to the DA. The DA is a constitutional state officer.”

Ellis also requested Willis provide information about the method her office used in determining the hourly rate each special prosecutor earns, as well as the basis for any differentiation of rates in their contracts.

Wade has been paid at a rate of $250 an hour, while the attorney known as Georgia’s top racketeering expert, John Floyd, was initially paid only $150 and was later paid $200 an hour, according to contracts and billing statements obtained by the DCNF.

Willis had falsely claimed Sunday that she paid all three special counsels on the case the same hourly rate.

“I’m a little confused. I appointed three special counsels, as is my right to do, paid them all the same hourly rate. They only attack one,” Willis during remarks Sunday, making an indirect reference to Wade.

The state’s response to Trump co-defendant Michael Roman’s motion to disqualify Fani Willis is also due by Feb. 2, before the hearing Judge Scott McAffee scheduled to consider the issue on Feb. 15.

A spokesperson for Republican Gov. Brian Kemp told the DCNF that “the Georgia General Assembly laid out a specific oversight process for district attorneys that is transparent and unbiased, which the governor supported and signed into law.”

“The governor has repeatedly stated that these allegations are deeply troubling, that evidence should be presented in order for the judge in this case to rule quickly, and that complaints regarding any district attorney’s conduct can be referred to the oversight commission once the legislative process concludes this session and the commission begins full operations,” the spokesperson said.
