you said insulting things to me. I am very good at specification and acquistion of computing equipment and RS-232 is very old school.

There are small little boxes you can get that are very short money, and if you are the hack you say you are you ought to be able to set up a low-cost linux or just find an old computer that still had an RS232 on it, and also an ethernet and use that, SSH over to it, and run it remotely.
