65 Ukrainian POWs killed in Russian plane crash – MOD

The IL-76 military aircraft was transporting 65 captured service members for further exchange, the Defense Ministry has said

Here is what we know so far about what happened.

The plane crash

On Wednesday at 11:15 Moscow time, reports came in that an IL-76 military transport plane carrying Ukrainian POWs had crashed and exploded in a field near the village of Yablonovo in the Korochansky district of Belgorod Region, which neighbors Ukraine.

Several people captured footage of the crash and shared videos of the incident on social media.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the plane was flying from the Chkalovsky airfield to Belgorod and was transporting the Ukrainian personnel for a prisoner swap with Kiev. Aside from the POWs, there were also six crew members and three accompanying personnel.

All those on board the aircraft were killed in the crash, according to the governor of Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov. However, the crash did not cause any damage to structures or people on the ground, landing five to six kilometers from the nearest village.

According to Russian officials, another plane carrying an additional 80 Ukrainian POWs was also in the air at the time of the incident. After the first plane crashed, the second aircraft was diverted, according to MP Andrey Kartapolov.

What was the cause?

Following the incident, the Russian Defense Ministry released a statement accusing Kiev’s forces of shooting down the plane using an anti-aircraft missile system. The ministry claimed that Russia’s Aerospace Forces radars recorded the launch of two Ukrainian missiles from the village of Liptsy in Kharkov Region.

The ministry has also stated that the Ukrainian side was informed of the flight ahead of time and was aware that it was carrying POWs, noting that the prisoner exchange was supposed to take place later in the afternoon at the Kolotilovka checkpoint.

Ukrainian media reports

Shortly after the crash, the Ukrainian media outlet Ukrainskaya Pravda released a report claiming that it had received confirmation from Kiev's military that the its forces had shot the plane down and that it had been told that the aircraft was believed to be carrying S-300 missiles.

Shortly after, however, the outlet redacted that statement, stating only that Kiev had confirmed that it was aware of the plane crash but could not confirm it was carrying Ukrainian POWs.

Meanwhile, other Western media outlets such as US-state funded Radio Liberty have confirmed from sources within the Kiev government that a prisoner exchange with Russia was indeed scheduled for Wednesday, but no further comments have been provided.

Kiev’s intelligence

A representative of the Ukrainian Intelligence Service, Andrey Yusov, has also confirmed the scheduled prisoner exchange.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters for matters regarding prisoners of war has refused to confirm the planned swap, only stating that it was “collecting and analyzing all the necessary information” while urging the media and its citizens to refrain from speculating on the incident. The body also noted that Russia is “actively carrying out special information operations” aimed at destabilizing Ukrainian society.

Russia’s reaction

The head of Russia’s State Duma Defense Committee, Andrey Kartapolov, has suggested that the IL-76 was shot down using Western Patriot or Iris-T air defense missiles. He has also proposed calling off any further prisoner swap negotiations with Kiev and insisted that Ukraine should officially be branded a terrorist state and its government a terrorist cell.

Germany, France, Romania, Poland, Lithuania… Farmers All Over Europe Take a Stand Against Crippling ‘Green’ Policies

The European continent is in turmoil, plagued by a multitude of self-inflicted maladies coming from the insane, failed globalist policies pushed by the EU: unchecked mass migration, unemployment, economic stagnation, LGBTQ lunacy, and – of course – the crippling climate alarmist ‘green’ regulations.

Perhaps no other sector of the economy was more impacted by the green lunacy than Agriculture.

European farmers, as in one voice, say that the green policies and taxes are taking them to the very edge of bankruptcy, in what becomes in all practical terms a ‘manufactured famine’.

So the protests have sprung up all over Europe, ahead of the EU elections in June, with the Agricultural workers demanding more government subsidies and protection from cheap grain from abroad.

Houthis Launch Fresh Attack On US Maersk Vessel, Ignoring Navy Escort

Update(11:30ET): As we previously noted, earlier in the morning Sky News reported that Houthi forces fired at least two missiles from Al-Bayda towards the Gulf of Aden. Well, it seems they were targeting a US vessel, even despite it having a US Naval escort. Per the breaking details in Bloomberg:

Two Maersk vessels were targeted in attacks near the Red Sea on Wednesday, ShippingWatch reports, citing the Danish shipping company. The vessels, which belong to Maersk’s US subsidiary Maersk Line Ltd., were headed for the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, escorted by the US Navy, news website says.

ShippingWatch indicated that as a result of the attack, wherein all the crew and ships were unscathed, the ships have turned around. Maersk starting in early January suspended transit for all its ships, but the directive did not apply to its US subsidiary.

This fresh incident is hugely significant given that after some eight or more rounds of US missile attacks and airstrikes on Houthi positions, the Iran-linked group remains undeterred, even with a US Navy escort seeking to protect an American container vessel.

    • *

Two months of drone and missile attacks on commercial vessels, as well as hijackings, in the highly contested Red Sea region by Iran-backed Houthi rebels, have yet to abate as economic costs mount for shippers and increased risks of snarled global supply chains.

The latest evidence that Red Sea disruptions will persist is a notice from the Department of Transportation informing commercial ship operators to avoid the "Southern Red Sea between 12N and 16N."

There continues to be a high degree of risk to commercial vessels transiting the Southern Red Sea between 12N and 16N. While the decision to transit remains at the discretion of individual vessels and companies, it is recommended that US flag and US-owned commercial vessels remain North of 18N in the Red Sea or East of 46E in the Gulf of Aden until further notice.

Besides Houthi attacks on Western vessels, the US and allies have ramped up attacks on the rebels in Yemen with repeated airstrikes.

Bloomberg reported early Wednesday that one of the world's largest shippers, Maersk, told clients in a notice to prepare for supply line disruptions as containerized vessels are rerouted to the Cape of Good Hope, which takes an extra 1-2 weeks for Asia to Europe shipping lanes.

"While we continue to hope for a sustainable resolution in the near-future and do all we can to contribute towards it, the situation currently remains untenable," Maersk said.

According to Flexport data, more than 500 container ships that would have sailed through the Red Sea have been rerouted to the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa. This is about a quarter of all the container shipping capacity in the world.

China Expands Tesla Bans From Military Bases To Other "Government Affiliated Venues"

At what could be the worst time possible for Tesla, the company's vehicles are facing additional entry bans in China at "government-affiliated venues", which includes meeting halls and exhibition centers, Nikkei reported this week.

The vehicles have been restricted by "government affiliates, local authority agencies, highway operators and even cultural and exhibition centers", according to the report, which confirms that previously, the bans had only applied to military bases.

One local, talking about the Grand Halls in the heart of the North Bund district in Shanghai, told Nikkei: "If you have a meeting there, the meeting organizer will actually give you notice ahead of time and ask that you don't drive or hire a Tesla car. You cannot enter the venue with a Tesla car."

Some Chinese cities hosting large sports events are also increasing restrictions on Tesla vehicles, Nikkei said. The vehicles were recently blocked on some roads in Chengdu, which hosted the World University Games last summer.

One Chongqing resident posted online that they had been targeted for their Tesla downtown: "We were asked not to turn left and told not to drive on the route we planned just because we were driving a Tesla car."

Last summer, Tesla faced scrutiny in China over data security concerns, particularly with its "sentry mode" feature. This led to Tesla cars being banned from a Yueyang, Hunan province airport. To address these issues, Tesla established a local data center in China in August 2023, ensuring all vehicle data remains within the country. Additionally, Tesla clarified that the data collected by sentry mode is stored locally and cannot be accessed remotely.

Abhilash Gupta, an analyst with Counterpoint, told Nikkei: "While national security complexities persist, these issues are likely to have minimal impact on Tesla's competition with local players, given the company's established reputation and proactive approach in addressing security challenges."

Despite this, Tesla looks to be forging forward in China. In late December we wrote that the EV-maker was launching a new mega factory project in Shanghai that would be designed to manufacture 10,000 megapacks per year.

The packs are designed for large-scale energy storage and efficient renewable energy distribution, and will be available for global sales.10,000 Megapack units annually equates to about 40GWh of energy storage capacity.

Located in the Lingang area of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, the facility is slated to begin construction early this year and commence operations by the end of that year, the report says.

However, as we noted earlier this month, despite price cuts, competition globally and in China is ramping up: BYD has surpassed Tesla in full electric vehicle deliveries for the first time ever in Q1 2024.

Connecticut mayor embroiled in alleged voter fraud scandal wins primary — after he already won the general election

The incumbent mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut, has now declared victory for the third time this election cycle after strong allegations of voter fraud leveled against his campaign forced a primary election do-over even though the mayor had already won the general election.

On Tuesday, residents of Bridgeport, the state's largest city, headed to the polls for the third time in four months to elect a mayor. With 99% of precincts reporting, incumbent Mayor Joe Ganim defeated challenger John Gomes by about 1,000 votes, 4,948 to 3,901, though those numbers are not yet official.

This vote, held in late January, more than two months after the general election on November 7, was actually a primary election for the Democrat nominee for Bridgeport mayor. And it was actually the second primary election held this election cycle.

If it sounds confusing, that's because it is.

In the first Democrat primary election, held on September 12, Gomes appeared on the cusp of unseating Ganim. In the initial hours after returns came in, Gomes held a steady lead. However, once absentee ballots were counted, Ganim edged out Gomes for the Democrat nomination by just 251 votes total.

Within days, the Gomes camp cried foul, releasing damning surveillance video footage from City Hall that appeared to show Wanda Geter-Pataky, a city employee and a long-standing supporter of Mayor Ganim, stuffing ballot boxes with stacks of absentee ballots. The evidence of voter fraud was so compelling that on October 25, about two weeks before the general election, Judge William Clark overturned the results of the primary election between Ganim and Gomes.

"The volume of ballots so mishandled is such that it calls the result of the primary election in serious doubt and leaves the court unable to determine the legitimate result of the primary," Clark wrote in his decision.

Clark ordered attorneys for the two campaigns to coordinate with local officials to arrange another primary election. Meanwhile, the general election went on as scheduled with Ganim listed as the Democrat nominee and Gomes listed as an independent candidate.

Ganim won that election, but since his position as the Democrat nominee was still in doubt, local authorities held yet another Democrat primary election this week. Once again, Ganim prevailed.

"Obviously this isn’t my first time, but it is, again, humbling for me to know that thousands and thousands of voters, of people in the city of Bridgeport, trudged through the weather today, overcame voter fatigue, and made a strong statement of voting and voting for us to continue the progress in the city of Bridgeport," he told a crowd of supporters. "I want to celebrate this victory for our city. I want to celebrate this victory for our party and for everyone who remains committed to improving the quality of life for the people that we serve in this great city."

Though a second general election has been tentatively scheduled for next month, Ganim's latest victory may have made that election unnecessary. As of early Wednesday morning, Gomes had not conceded the race or made any decisions regarding that additional general election, the AP reported.

"We have challenged the status quo and nothing will be the same," Gomes said. "What we’ve done is build an army that’s stronger than ever and we are coming."

Mayor Ganim seems to be the Teflon Don of Bridgeport politics. He was first elected to city mayor more than 30 years ago in 1991, when he was in his early 30s. However, 12 years later, he resigned after he was convicted of several crimes related to political corruption.

He spent seven years behind bars, but after he was released, he ran for the mayoral office once again in 2015 — and won. He then won re-election in 2019 and apparently once again in 2023.

Medical Research WITHOUT informed consent now allowed by FDA

This is how they will be able to inject anything they like without informed consent in the future:

The caveat is it must be minimal risk research. That means it must be no more risky than what is already presented in the environment. Enter: pandemic 2.0. People are getting sick and dying, the next thing they do is test you for the virus and within that testing mechanism IS the treatment and it will be legal, without your knowledge or consent. Of course, that is not how they are framing it now, but that is exactly what it will be.

Excerpt:

“In an effort to encourage the discovery of more treatment and diagnostic options in the medical field, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finalized a rule allowing certain clinical trials to operate without obtaining informed consent from participants.

The hitch? The study cannot pose more than minimal risk to humans and must include appropriate safeguards to protect the rights, safety, and welfare of those involved.

The was issued in late December 2023 and went into effect on Jan. 22, 2024.”

” Informed consent may also be dispensed with in a fourth set of cases, those of legally required treatment, in which the harm from requiring informed consent is not necessarily to the patient (or the patient alone) but to other important societal interests (e.g., civil commitment of the dangerous mentally ill—see Chapter 11—or forced treatment of patients with infectious disease)”

Hezbollah Targets Command Center in Northern Israel

Strike a response to assassinations, attacks on civilians

For the second time this month, Hezbollah reports targeting an Israeli Air Command Center in northern Israel with rockets. The base, on the top of Mt. Meron, was heavily used for aerial command before it was badly damaged earlier this month, in a Hezbollah retaliation to an assassination.

This time, Hezbollah is reporting the strikes were in response to further assassinations as well as Israeli attacks on civilians in southern Lebanon and Syria. Hezbollah’s comments on Syria likely refer to a Damascus attack that killed five Iranian advisors in a residential building that was destroyed.

The assassinations have occurred intermittently in Lebanon, with senior officials targeted as opportunity presents itself. The most recent such attack killed a Hezbollah operative, yet reportedly the main target of the drone strike was able to survive.

The latest string of tit-for-tat strikes began with the assassination of Saleh Arouri, a Hamas figure who was responsible for hostage exchanges, who was killed in Beirut. Hezbollah, angered by the strikes on the Lebanese capital, responded with rocket fire against various Israeli targets, and seems to favor hitting the Mt. Meron base as a high-profile, poorly defended site.

Israel has made a big deal about using the Iron Dome system to shoot down incoming missiles fired at its territory, yet Hezbollah largely uses rockets meant for anti-tank fire, and the defensive system is generally not effective at intercepting these.

Increasingly, Israel is focusing on southern Lebanon as a legitimate war zone, and it is being called a war in every way but the official name. Ground operations are talked about as if they are inevitable, with Israel amassing tens of thousands of troops in the north. The number of troops preparing for the fight with Hezbollah is nearly the same as that currently deployed in the open-ended Gaza Strip war.

The United States has reportedly warned Israel against such an expansion, arguing that they are so busy with Gaza they risk spreading the military too thin with a sudden Lebanon invasion. Israeli officials, however, appear confident they’ll get US support on the conflict either way, and, having positioned fights against Hezbollah as de facto proxy battles with Iran, seem to be strongly leaning toward an invasion.

Los Angeles Times to lay off at least 115 people in the newsroom

The Los Angeles Times announced Tuesday that it was laying off at least 115 people — or more than 20% of the newsroom — marking one of the largest workforce reductions in the history of the 142-year-old institution.

The cuts were necessary because the paper could no longer lose $30 million to $40 million a year without making progress toward building higher readership that would bring in advertising and subscriptions to sustain the organization, the paper’s owner, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, said Tuesday.

Drastic changes were needed, he said, including new leaders who would focus on strengthening the outlet’s journalism to become indispensable to more readers.

The Hague-based ICJ to deliver interim ruling in Israel genocide case on Friday

South African report says Pretoria officials are in Netherlands ahead of ruling on request for emergency suspension of fighting

Judges at The Hague-based International Court of Justice will rule on Friday whether or not they will grant emergency measures against Israel following accusations by South Africa that the Israeli military operation in Gaza is a state-led “genocide.”

The United Nations’ top court issued a statement Wednesday saying the 17-judge panel will hand down its ruling in court on January 26 at 2 p.m. Israel time.

In the initial ruling, the ICJ will not deal with the main question of whether Israel is committing genocide. The court will just look at possible emergency measures, meant as a kind of restraining order while the court looks at the full case, which usually takes years.

There was no immediate reaction from Israel’s Foreign Ministry to the announcement on Friday’s hearing.

Ahead of the ICJ statement confirming the hearing, South African’s News24 reported that a South African government delegation had touched down in The Hague in anticipation of the judgment. Reuters was unable to immediately confirm the arrival.

Major South African banks provide platform to fund Hamas

The Jerusalem Post research uncovered what appears to be a network of several South African organizations deeply involved in Hamas funding.

Research conducted by The Jerusalem Post staff and several sources uncovered what appears to be a network of several South African organizations and straw man companies deeply involved with funding Hamas activities through the Al-Quds Foundation, an international group sanctioned by the US and outlawed by Israel, using accounts registered in major local South African banks: Standard Bank, Nedbank, and Absa.

The global Al-Quds Foundation

The Al-Quds International Foundation (a.k.a. Al-Quds International Institute or QII) was established in Beirut in 2001 by Hamas members to raise funds for the terror organization through the guise of charity. According to the US Department of Treasury, the Hamas leadership runs all of the foundation’s affairs through Hamas members who serve on the board and other administrative committees, while all documents, plans, budgets, and projects are drafted by Hamas officials. Additionally, several senior Hamas officials, including Specially Designated Global Terrorists Mousa Abu Marzook and Osama Hamdan, served on Al-Quds’ Board of Trustees.

The foundation is part of the extensive network of Muslim Brotherhood affiliated organizations and was chaired until recently by sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, the most prominent Islamic scholar of the Sunni world in the past decades, who was also aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood axis, and who was made notorious in the West for his infamous fatwa (an Islamic legal ruling) endorsing, and commending suicide bombings.

North Carolina high school to close, make way for 'newcomer school' for refugees, families

The "newcomer school" would be "more akin to a migrant resettlement of assimilation facility."

7 seconds…

A public alternative high school in New Hanover County, North Carolina, has been the proposed location for a "newcomers school" for refugees. The school would be intended for use by the children of refugees, asylum seekers, and illegal immigrants who have been arriving by the millions into the US since Joe Biden took the White House in 2021. The school will be publicly funded and would take the space of the Career Readiness Academy at Mosley High School.

In speaking out against the plan on Monday at a New Hanover County Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Dane Scalise said the Board of Education should not close the current high school just to open a program that would be "not really a school in the traditional sense." He said that the facility would be "more akin to a migrant resettlement of assimilation facility." Others have called it a "refugee school." He spoke about how Guilford County was already a locus for "refugee resettlement" after their "newcomer school" opened.

During a November 28, 2023 meeting, Dr. Patrice Faisan discussed the plan for the "newcomer school."

"There are different models. The best model, talking to those who have models and looking at the research, is the newcomer school," Faisan said. "Where you actually have a facility where you house and actually educate these students together, provide parental wrap-around support services. So it's just not about the students receiving support, you also will be helping the families in this center as well."

She went on to tell the New Hanover County School Board, who were learning about this for the first time despite it having been in the planning stages since 2021, "part of this, we actually will have what we're calling a 'newcomer center' for parents and that would be a room where we want to make sure we can help parents access some of the things that they need to access."

Faisan said that her team was "already working with the wraparound services that would be needed there. So this is just not an academic endeavor. This is a total endeavor strongly with student support. They are hand in hand with us on this as they need to be."

It's not just what the school building would turn into that is at issue for the community, but what the educational system would be losing. Parents were informed of the decision to close the school via a letter from the Career Readiness Academy principal on December 1, 2023.

Members of the Mosely community, with 63 students and 15 staff members, spoke up too after it was announced by the New Hanover County Schools that it would be closed after the 2023-24 school year and not reopened.

On Tuesday, Faisan, who spoke about the already-underway plan in November, told the community that the Mosely wasn't worth saving. She said the graduation rate is low, the cost-per-student is too high, and the space is underutilized. It was revealed during the meeting that Superintendent Dr. Charles Foust has been planning to close the school since 2021, though the public had not been informed of that decision.

Students and members of the school community all spoke up to keep the school open. Sophomore Esmerelda Avalos told local news that the school was worth saving due to the individual attention the students at the alternative public school get. "We get the support, the attention," she said. "They always help us. We're like a small family. Since I started to go to Mosley, I have seen that I have changed. My grades have been going up. I think it really helps me because I’m not fluent in English and I think they have helped me there."

A junior explained his love for the school. "It is not a behavior school. It is a school for people who need different environments and thrive differently and just all around need a place to be accepted," Alex Finley said.

The decision to shut down Career Readiness Academy, located at the Mosley High School, was made by New Hanover County Schools administrators. The decisions were made, Cape Fear Beacon reports, "without the knowledge or consent of the school board." The new school will have 200 or more refugee, illegal immigrant, and asylum-seeking children within it.

US Launches Airstrikes in Southern Somalia, Says Three al-Shabaab Killed

The strikes mark the first known US bombing of Somalia in 2024

The US launched airstrikes in Somalia on January 21, US Africa Command announced on Tuesday, marking the first known US bombing of the country in 2024.

AFRICOM said in a press release that the strikes consisted of two separate engagements against al-Shabaab about 20 miles northeast of Kismaayo, a port city in southern Somalia. The command said the strikes were launched at the request of the US-backed Mogadishu-based government.

The command said its “initial assessment” found three al-Shabaab fighters were killed and claimed no civilians were harmed. But AFRICOM is notorious for undercounting civilian casualties, and US military operations in Somalia are shrouded in secrecy.

11,000 Children Killed in 108 Days – Israel’s Genocide in Gaza Continues

In the past 108 days, Israeli army attacks have killed 11,000 children and 7,500 women in the Gaza Strip, according to the media office of the government in Gaza.

According to a report by the Anadolu news agency, the media office said in a statement on Monday, that 7,000 people, 70% of whom are women and children, are still under debris or missing, due to Israel’s attack on the enclave.

The office cited a host of new figures to try to convey the depth of loss and destruction suffered by Palestinians in Gaza, the report added.

“The number of bodies reaching hospitals has surpassed 25,900, while 63,000 people have been injured since October 7,” it continued.

Some 70,000 houses have been completely destroyed in Israeli attacks, and 290,000 houses were made uninhabitable.

On Israeli attacks on the healthcare sector, the statement said 337 healthcare workers and 45 civilian defense officials have so far been killed, reported Anadolu.

A total of 119 journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza, since October 7.

Earlier this month, the office of the ICC’s Chief Prosecutor, Karim Khan, confirmed to Reporters Without Borders (RSF) that “crimes against journalists” are included in its ongoing investigation into the situation in Palestine.

Scores Detained and Displaced

Israel forces detained 99 healthcare workers and 10 journalists, and 2 million people were displaced in the Gaza Strip, the Anadolu report said.

The media office also highlighted the inhumane conditions in crowded shelters where displaced Palestinians seek refuge.

“The statement said 400,000 cases of infectious diseases and more than 8,000 cases of Hepatitis A have been detected as a result of Israel’s forced displacement,” reported Anadolu.

The media office also shared that some 60,000 pregnant women in Gaza face critical risks due to the inability to provide health care, while 350,000 individuals with chronic illnesses are facing critical risks due to the lack of medication.

The report further states that the Israeli army destroyed 140 government facilities as well as 99 schools and universities, while partially damaging 295 schools and universities.

Outside Gaza, “there are 11,000 injured people who need treatment, and 10,000 cancer patients are facing the risk of death due to inadequate health care”, the report adds.

Conspiracy Theorists Were Right About Climate Lockdowns

Well folks, I really hate to say this, but it’s another win for the conspiracy theorists. They can take off their tinfoil hats and take a deep bow. Yet another one of their outrageous “predictions” is coming true. For anyone keeping score, sadly the score card is rather one-sided. I think the count is something like Conspiracy Theorists = 1,000,000 wins vs. Logic & Normalcy = 0 wins. Boy how I wish we could win some on the “Logic & Normalcy” scale!

So, I acknowledge that I do have a rather dry sense of humor. I throw sarcasm in there a bunch. A couple of my friends tell me they cannot always tell when I’m being serious or if I’m joking. This makes me think that quite a few of you will be wondering, “Is she serious or is she joking with the title to her article?” To that I answer, I will tell you what I know, and then you decide. (You know how I love to promote critical thinking)…

Yesterday, our unfortunate Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, issued a TRAVEL BAN for an entire county. You read that correctly. No, not a travel advisory, but a full on travel ban! Meaning, New Yorkers in Erie County are forbidden from going anywhere. What’s another name for that? Well, if you live in a rural or very suburban area (which most of New York State is), where driving on a road is the way you get from point A to point B, then I would say a synonym would be “lockdown.”

And what was Dictator Hochul’s, I mean Governor Hochul’s, reason for this lockdown of close to one million New Yorkers that live in Erie County? Wait for it. Ready? It was going to SNOW! For anyone who does not live in New York, or who has never been to Western New York in the winter, that area of our state gets a lot of snow. Often. And yet, the governor thinks (all of a sudden, out of nowhere) everyone living there is so ignorant, they must be confined to their homes until she says it’s safe for them to rejoin the world again. Either that, or she’s just testing you to see how far she can take her totalitarian desires. Or both.

For all the keyboard critics who love to jump in and twist my words, I’ll cut you off at the pass and say that I am not admonishing a governor’s desire to keep people safe in the wake of a storm. That’s not at all what I am saying. If a natural disaster is approaching, people should be warned, emergency services ready to roll, and help made readily available. Encourage people to stock up, stay home, and hunker down? For sure! Forbid people from leaving their homes? NO.

There is a big difference between caring about New Yorkers’ safety, and wanting to control people. Huge.

And in fact, Hochul was banning people from leaving their homes even if it was NOT snowing! Sound unbelievable? It sure does. But remember in my article last week, I cited an ancient Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, who fittingly said, “The truth often evades being recognized due to its utter incredibility.” Put another way, when something is so outrageous, it is often cast aside as untrue. Well, here’s what comrade Kathy posted on her Twitter yesterday:
