51 days until MAiD for mental health as a sole condition for approval to die.
People who first advocated for MAiD did not fully realize the slippery slope we are on.
Most people didn’t know that MAiD was never slated to be just for elderly people with terminal illness. From the get go, MAiD was to be implemented in a series of steps.
Next on the table is MAiD for “mature minors”. In normal language this means kids. Kids who cannot vote, smoke, drink or get a tattoo. Kids who need permission to go on field trips from school, will be allowed to make a decision to be euthanized without parental consent.
Once this becomes “standard of care”, meaning a physician must offer this as one of the possible treatments, how can we ever trust our care, or the care of our children to doctors in this country?
If peoples lives are made to feel worthless, and death so easily obtained, how can we as a nation, a society, survive with any sense of morality or ethics?
This must stop
