English: The First Church of Christ (Congregational) or First Congregational Church, on the corner of State and Union Streets in New London, Connecticut, was built in 1850 and was designed by Leopold Eidlitz in the Gothic Revival style.

 

The congregation was founded in 1684in Gloucester, Massachusetts by Rev. Richard Blinman, and later moved to New London (then Pequot). Their first place of worship was a large barn, which was replaced by a meeting house around 1655, and then a larger church in the early 1680s. The 1698 third chuch was struck by lightning in 1735, but the decision was made to repair and expand it This structure was replaced by a new church in 1786, which lasted until the current building was constructed. The church's bell was installed in 1876.

 

The church is part of the Downtown New London Historic District.
