you can't know what the best outcome will be so blue-printing often results in you asking for things that aren't really going to help you.

it's different for each person.
I think if I were as new at it as you seem to be I'd pray like this "Lord help me to learn how to pray in a way that pleases you and ask for the things that please you."
There is a kind of 'being with The Lord ' type of prayer that doesn't ask for anything, it is just you being thankful for what you have and for the people around you.
If you don't know how to ask things for yourself you can pray for other people like 'Please clear up Father's cough and make him healthy so that he can be well and do better the things that you call him to do', stuff like that.
Tell Him what you don't like then.
Just tell Him how thankful you are for your life and for Him letting you know Him better.
